It means there will be more routes not including IOM...

Interesting words from Noel Hayes. I would bet that any new routes will be from markets that competitors cant readily access namely Gloucester, Oxford and possibly Blackpool airport.

I would also guess that Manx would do these are 1 stop IOM services ie IOM Oxford Jersey etc. However not sure.

He is correct in what he says about the market being unsustainable when there is overcapacity as the market is limited.

However, watch EZY come into the market is quite a statement. I reckon EZY are testing the water against Flybe testing their resolve and also the viability of the 319 on these thin routes versus Flybe.

EZY may be looking at what BE does with a view to doing the same and maybe at a later date add smaller commuter types. Could be a good weapon in niche markets?

Might be filling some of the empty shoes left by Highland, eg Anglesey, Oban, Stornoway???

There was this article in the Gloucestershire Press a while back:

http://www.thisisgloucestershire.co.uk/gloucestershireheadlines/Destination-Europe/article-610387-detail/article.html

There’s little prospect of significant competition at GLO for the time being, and GLO has been one of the best performing routes from the IOM for Manx2 in terms of pax. They’ve also built up a good profile locally.

A DUB or EDI would work IMHO….

Many have been forced to rediscover the joy of the Steam Packet and train as did I for 2 trips to London and 1 back last week. It was actually rather nice and stress free, although three times the time door to door as flying.

Or maybe they're all waiting for easyJet? Not long now.

The business types have probably been scared off by the ash and have discovered that video conferencing always gets you home after work.

Wonder what spin Ann will put on it?

Its true fellas - like a ghost town (apart from a bigwomanlike figure who wanders around with a clipboard under her arm). We've got a great runway that the aircraft here only need to use half of and a tower as high as hethrows and a security fence to keep oout the invasions of terrorists we have every friday afternoons (except bank holidays) and Manxy Too, our resident ticket bureau airline. Yep, an airport where money is no object and the governement piggy bank is deep in the guano. Its great here, honest.

As much as I love my visits to Fraggle Rock I have to ask how much of an airline infrastructure a population of 55,000 can support, especially where there is an alternative option (the Steam Racket as an alternative, there's a novelty).

Chances are the dearly beloved financial sector are responsible for most air traffic anyway, perhaps IoMG should think about the tax rates the come-overs pay.

Does anyone have any sort of informed 'feel ' for how Easyjet's forward sales IOM-LPL are going?

I have a weekend return booked in mid-July at the rock bottom fare, and looking at their booking engine, apart from a few days around TT Week, when the cheapest seats are c£35-£47 each way, this entry level fare is still available on nearly all their flights.

Either they have a lot of seats at this price, or they are struggling to shift them.

It was interesting to see the VCR of the new control tower hiding in the bottom of a low overcast of yesterday whilst planes were landing and taking off. We'll be getting ground movement radar next.

Bigger isn't always better.

Aer Arran

Flew back from LCY last week on a somewhat tatty ATR42 that seems to have been around for a month or so now. Has that now become a permanent fixture, or are we likely to get the more comfortable ATR72 back on the route?

BTW pleased to see the new bag charges don't apply to the IOM/LCY route. To do so would have no doubt upset the business traffic whose wheeley cases are bigger than RE's modest hand baggage size allowance.

I flew back last week on that same tatty ATR42 - noisy, well worn, in desperate need of a cabin refurb. Doesn't match the otherwise excellent service Aer Arann offer on this route. As someone from Aer Arann told me this is one of their best performing routes (is that true I wonder?) can we please have the nice quiet comfortable ATR72 back please?

I had heard that the ATR 42 was based at IOM for a month or two while a 72 was repqinted into the new EI regional colours so a 72 might reappear soon

Seems unlikely. These flights have sold well - 70% to 80% load factors using an aircraft which would otherwise be doing very little on winter Saturdays. The flights are being sold already by local travel agents for 2010/11 based on the same timings as last season.

I suppose the agent could have got RE to do them instead of BE, but that doesn't seem particularly likely.

A mite is a bug........

As tonyg says, it would be down to local travel agents, not Titan themselves. Flybe had no hope running Geneva without a Ski package inc.

When the winter schedule is released, no doubt the Geneva flights will be back up for sale, they have been pretty busy during the winter, more so this year compared to last year. As mentioned the service is being sold by the travel agent at the moment. Worry not

Chitty, where have you got that gem of information from ?. I have not seen anywhere that the rotation has been dropped, and as previously mentioned, would be very surprised if that were the case because it is profitable.
