Interesting indeed, as this is the first year that Steam Packet will have the large high speed cat Manananan operating LPL-IOM from late March ( ie: for the full season), with a crossing time of just 2 hours 30 minutes, up to twice a day.
Fares for a car + 2 people starting at £58 each way.

dont forget last TT FlyMaybe were messin about on BLK IOM BHD so there was lots of extra BLK IOM capacity around in May & June. So this year a 3x a day S340 has been replaced by a single daily A319. mad.

IOM-LPL timetable has been updated. its showing as daily (excpet tuesdays).
there were some comments about the lack of sunday flights in the initial scheduling in particular. so this has been changed.

Whatever the rights and wrongs, or pros and cons, of EZY coming to IOM, I don't think anyone else has mentioned that the A319 will be the largest (by capacity anyway) aircraft ever used on scheduled services to the Island.
The current record is held by the BEA Vanguards which were used on Saturdays only, to/from LHR in the 1962 summer season.
Quite a bit of water has flowed under the bridge since those days....

Easy didn't carry bikes last time I checked and I wonder what their baggage policy is on carrying helmets?
FWIW, anyone going to the TT/MGP who can't get a crossing with the Steam Racket with their bike could do worse than fly over and hire a small car for the week. I've done that, and prices aren't too bad. Frankly there's too many idiots on the road TT week to enjoy riding the course anyway.

The Airport Director speaks...........
Speaking in the radio today. in an interview recorded after a Travelwatch meeting on Saturday the AD said:-
1. Easyjet made the running and approached IOM
2. They are not getting any 'incentives' etc.
3. There are no other routes in the pipeline.
4. They would not encourage Easyjet onto a London route (LGW or LTN) as the current mix and frequency would be impacted, to overall detriment of IOM.
We will see I suppose

TonyQ, can Reynoldsway stop Easy starting IOM STN or LGW if they want to. I thought u had open skies over there? But surely Easy 2x or 3x daily to LPL into there hub is what the market really wants and leave BE the London routes

I think it is great that IOM recognise that the London market is very secure with Aer Arann and FlyBE on the market.
Personally, I believe they aren't as bothered about the FlyBE routes to the capital, more so the LCY connection.
