Pray & ye shall receive!
OK, it's only a once daily Flybe to/from EMA for W14, but it's a start!
The flights originates in ABZ so I wonder if it's a DHC8D rotation 'between bus shuttle duties' as it were.
I think the ETD for the EMA flight out of ABZ is 1045 but don't know how that correlates with the shuttle service.

Good news indeed and nice to see BE on a roll at ABZ after quite a bit orf neglect.
The shuttle service fully utilises the aircraft so don't think it's that. From a quick look it doesn't appear to be the MAN or BHX a/c either (which are both gaining at least 1 extra daily rotation it would appear). Could a reopening of a base at ABZ be on the cards?

The recent flybe expansion could soon be seeing them become the largest airline at Aberdeen, maybe some summer charters aswell would be great, can't imagine eastern on the Leeds Southampton and East Midlands routes competing

I wouldn't write off Eastern's chances of competing with Flybe on the EMA route too quickly. Crucially Eastern offer the frequency to cater for the business sector, which obviously, with their fare structure, is the market their service is aimed at.
There will obviously be some dilution of Eastern's pax numbers on the route, but to really hit them hard I would have thought Flybe would need to go at least double daily.
Balair.

As you will all probably know by now - flyBE are going to pick up the ABZ-LCY route with a night-stop Dash 8.
Rumours are that previous flyBE ABZ staff have been approached regarding the base opening again so watch this space...

As GK says. The starting gun has been fired officially - let's see who wants it/them.

doubtful it will be GIP otherwise you get the issue of a monopoly in Scotland - the whole reason BAA had to sell either EDI or GLA a few years back. MAG would struggle as you would potentially get a conflict between SOU and BOH. My money is on Ferrovial but would personally prefer GIP

Glasgow, Aberdeen airports to be sold to Ferrovial - The Scotsman
Some seem to think it's a done deal bar the shouting, if you prefer Ferrovial to be the owners.
Doesn't appear to have been much open competition! Sell the three as a package to your biggest shareholder.
I think GIP were only interested in ABZ alone, whereas Ferrovial wanted all three as a package it would appear, & it seems HAH want to sell them as a package - and as the article says, they must be advanced talks if they're expecting a sale by year end, one month less than it took to dispose of EDI alone.
Like others I would have liked GIP, on the basis of what we've seen at LGW & especially EDI.
Maybe Ferrovial will be good for us should it be them. I just worry at the spiralling debt when they acquired BAA as was. I wonder where they are getting the capital from for this bid (I think prev reports said it was somewhere north of £800m for the three). Their capital? Borrowed capital? I hope it doesn't end up a Glazier/Man Utd situation, where they lumped the debt onto the asset they acquired!!
I would have preferred separate owners for GLA & ABZ myself. However we are all only interested spectators at the end of the day.

Eastern/Sumburgh
Plenty of Eastern flights to Sumburgh today I see. As well as those in the
104x range, now at least 5 I think it is today in the 97xx range.
Shetland & West of Shetland must be going great guns (if you believe the latest talk about BP & Clair Ridge).
I see ABZ MD pressing for the initial work on the bypass to be around the airport area.
I noted that work on Forth Road crossing II seems to be marching ahead with bridge construction half complete yet not one cm of tarmac (or whatever they use these days) has been laid for the bypass.

As for doing the airport section first; I am not sure what that would achieve. As far as I could tell most of the congestion was caused by traffic trying to head south. The airport stretch would only mean traffic joining the queue quicker than at present. Surely it would make sense to complete it from the South to provide an fast outlet for traffic leaving the city? Although by the time it is finished we'll all be in flying cars anyway!

Maybe the bypass won't be needed - Chevron cuts 220, Shell today announces today 250 jobs losses. TAQA looking to cut, Marathon tried to exit UKCS, Talisman are eventually exiting.
The North Sea costs have become far too high, & Aberdeen is starting to feel the pain - I suspect much more to come $100 oil or not. Costs have been allowed to spiral & no doubt salaries are part of that equation.
Looks like there will be plenty people on the jobs market soon to fill the supposed skills shortage.
Suddenly, all this commercial building around the airport & elsewhere in the city isn't such a sure thing?

Looks like the death knell has sounded for ABZ-RIX with it no longer bookable after 28th September. It gradually reduces to 3x weekly, then to 2x throughout September.
Still loaded for next Summer but looks extremely unlikely to return now
