yet not one cm of tarmac (or whatever they use these days) has been laid for the bypass.
Jack McConnell announced the bypass nearly 12 years ago and the chosen contractor has only just been announced (June). At that rate I am not expecting to see this road completed in my lifetime!
As for doing the airport section first; I am not sure what that would achieve. As far as I could tell most of the congestion was caused by traffic trying to head south. The airport stretch would only mean traffic joining the queue quicker than at present. Surely it would make sense to complete it from the South to provide an fast outlet for traffic leaving the city? Although by the time it is finished we'll all be in flying cars anyway!
