Winter decrease is very surprising but any increase during summer is welcome, wonder if the route is worth a 4th rotation a day,

I think three will be it's limit ABZ - they'll just increase capacity with more 319s for example. Interesting that the Lufthansa Flight Training were up here recently (with a Citation) presumably doing fam flights for pilots.

Aberdeen International Airport to offer new route to Europe - Local / News / Evening Express

Good news - we knew Thomson had intended FAO for S15 but now publicly known. Also seems more Palma on the back of that.

I notice in the local press that Business Leaders are calling for an end to the "Haemorrhaging" of flights from ABZ/INV-LON. Perhaps they should actually do some research before making these claims. Am I right in saying that ABZ has never had so much capacity to London?

VS

And their first two ABZ-LHR yesterday were sold out and the third had 160 odd. They've generally been pretty good as of late from what I've seen and have come along way since my first flight with 19 other pax...

To rotary matters, & heard on the news that Bristow have applied to the council to build an enhanced passenger terminal facilitated by knocking down on of their existing hangars, if I heard the report correctly.

Flybe

The P&J Aberdeen angle on the better news for INV from Flybe today.

https://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp...d-headline-40/

The number of Flybe passengers passing through Aberdeen has risen 40% to 625,000 this fiscal year and by 13% to 410,000 at Inverness Airport.

Chief commercial officer Paul Simmons said: “We had to take some unpleasant measures to slim down our cost base but we have emerged as a stronger and more viable airline.”

Last year’s turnaround plan saw 30 unprofitable routes axed and the loss of more than 1000 jobs, including 35 in Inverness and 12 in Aberdeen.

But Mr Simmons said the carrier remained committed to the north of Scotland.

He said: “We are going to be announcing another route for Inverness tomorrow and we will also visit Aberdeen this week to discuss opportunities there.

“Our interest remains very strong in terms of growth, but we have to do it in the right way.”

Bypass

There was some talk that parts of it around to the north and airport could be constructed first, which given the speed of development around the airport would be a necessity I would have thought.

But who really knows - I'll only believe it when I see the first sod cut!!

Scandinavian shorts

CR9s have been on the evening SK1521/22 CPH/ABZ/CPH rotation of late instead of the Cimber CR2s. Temporary or permanent? Don't know what's operating the am rotation.

Seems to be an extra Fri evening rotation on SVG/ABZ/SVG with SAS - SK4617/8. Operated last Fri and down to operate today. Again - temporary for summer season or permanent addition...as much as these things can ever be called 'permanent'!

Richard,

SAS CR9's on the evening rotation are scheduled M-F permanently with the CR2's on the Morning and Weekend rotations. Been this way since the start of S14 and will continue for W14 as things stand.

The extra SVG rotation has been on since the start of S14 as well and will take a break for July & most of August and isn't currently scheduled to continue into W14. Just rechecked this and it will continue for W14.

SAS Oslo takes the same break in July and August by dropping from 6x to 3x weekly. However they have decided to maintain the 6x weekly in W14 whereas originally it was planned to be 3x weekly.

Thanks Capt Doony - looks like a break for summer hols; reductions in freq at that time of year appear to be the norm these days.

Elsewhere, I notice Loganair have resumed charter flights to Wick for Chevron, where oil workers link up with a 332 Super Puma of NHV Helicopters. A pic I saw taken at WIC suggests a S2000.

I thought last time it was due to groundings here, but this time appears to be a more permanent arrangement?

As far as I know Chevron have another contract up at WIC for 6 months possibly even longer they are currently extending the apron at the Airport and the company are looking to build a semi permanent hangar for their helicopters what ever type of hangar that is ? Loganair have been using Saab340s from ABZ and have on occasions have used the Saab2000
