Ryanair are following through with their promise to make big cuts at Shannon if the government introduced the air travel tax. Shannon seems to be losing at least 1 aircraft from the 1st of July. I've just had a quick look at the flights on sale and from what I can see:
- Shannon-Biarritz seems to be completely axed
- Shannon-Fuerteventura is axed
- Shannon-Hahn is axed (for the 3rd time!) with the last flight on the 29th of June
- Shannon-Lodz is axed (for the 2nd time!) with the last flight on the 29th of June
- Shannon-Prestwick reduced to 4 weekly from 1 July (currently daily)
- Shannon-Liverpool reduced to 3 weekly from 1 July (currently daily)
- Shannon-Stansted reduced to 3 daily from 1 July (currently 4 daily), just 1 of the 3 SNN-STN rotations will be operated be a SNN based aircraft compared to all 4 at present
- Shannon-Manchester reduced to 5 weekly from 1 July (currently daily)

A cynic might say that Shannon-Berlin has been saved because it competes with an Aer Lingus route out of Cork.
And I'm not just saying that as a Shannon v Cork thing. FR do seem to have a habit of being willing to take a loss on routes out of Dublin if it negatively affects one of their competitors.

The cuts at Shannon are now to take place 3 months earlier than planned. They will now take effect from the end of March. Shannon-Hahn and Lodz both now axed from the 26th of March (instead of the 29th of June). Reductions on Prestwick, Liverpool, Stansted and Manchester all effective from the end of March. Shannon-Manchester will now reduce from daily to 4 weekly (instead of reducing to 5 weekly). This means the number of flights from Shannon to the Manchester/Liverpool area is to be halved from 14 weekly to 7.

This week, however, at least the SNN to LCJ route's future has been discussed in Dublin again and it will possibly survive (after end of March not bookable as yet).

BHX-SNN showing double daily on Sundays, Wednesdays & Thursdays from
22 Feb to 26 March.
Although the period covers the the week of the Cheltenham Gold Cup, still
unusual for such short period or is it going to continue on afterwards?
Loads have been good on the route (for the time of year) but considering the fares charged it is not that surprising.

SNN-BRS also double daily on Fris and Suns for rest of winter period (I believe this has been in operation for a week or two already).
When the BRS base is expanded at the beginning of July timings suggest that the daily BRS-SNN route will be operated by a BRS-based aircraft. Historically and until the end of June it has been and will continue to be be worked by a SNN-based aircraft.
Is there any indication what work, if any, the freed up aircraft will be given for the rest of the summer?

PS - Maybe all these random double dailies are an effort to meet the number of pax Ryanair contractually agreed to?

Did Ryanair reduce capacity to Beauvais at all?
If not, it presumably means the route is doing OK. I'd wondered how they'd hold up after Aer Lingus returned to the Heathrow route.

Paris
3 flights per day to paris with almost 370 seats to fill seems a tall order for SNN.
Are Cityjet planning other routes? The first flight from CDG to SNN arrives in SNN at 1205 but the second SNN to CDG dept. is 1450. Is there enough space to squeeze in a LCY rotation.

It is a bit of a tall order alright in the current economic climate, especially considering Aer Lingus are relaunching Heathrow around the same time.
I don't think a mid afternoon LCY service would work. In order to justify the premium charged for flying to LCY, a morning and evening service are vital.
