If you have an FAA Certificate you can covert straight across with a medical and a short conversion exam.
If not you will likely have to pass the ATPL exams the SARON, SAMRA and possibly the INRAT...

Well if you are a Canadian Citizen with a Canadian licence and 2500 Medium turboprop time you might get the nod from any number of operators. If you are not a citizen then I would say zero chance....

If you fly YYZ to FLL you would use MIA for alternate. Presuming weather etc is good. Actual flying distance is less than 20 nm I think. Turn left vectors for MIA.
