I think Taildragger is correct and different flight numbers refer to which airline owns/controls/has rights etc to the respective routes. From memory I think there may be an open skies type deal...

my understanding is JQ website only sells bare bones fares...but when done by QF it is often a step up in fare level...probably to cover the admin/tktg costs which are then incurred. ...

I guess you are aware then that the NZ aircraft are fitted with more advance RNP equipment to allow them down below 4,000 where JQ and probably Jetconnect aircraft do not have this...
