Ukraine War Thread Part 2
and they did cut out their opportunity to take Odessa and create way to Transnistria (not that they would've been able to anyway, but they locked out that option now)
Add to that the fact that they did cut 85% of Crimean water supply and flooded all their own positions and storages in that area plus endangered the Zaporizhzhia NPP, this is pure scorched earth policy by Russkies.

1. I don't think Russians intended further offensives in the Kherson area this year anyway, so their thinking probably went along the lines of "if we can't have it nobody can have it."
2. Their "own goal" regarding Crimea's water supply is a bit of a puzzler.
3. Grain futures markets are about to get very interesting for next year.
UN sinking fast...
There was a video of the explosion on a Russian Telegram channel. It was massive.

Ecce Homo! Loquitur...
According to NBC, quoting two US officials and one western official, the US government has intelligence that indicates Russia is behind the blowing up of the Nova Kakhovka dam.
The administration is currently working to declassify intelligence to enable it to be shared...

it is impossible to make such destruction from the outside, the damage here was done by planting explosives.

With the other 70 or so posts you’ve made in the past two days which a Mod has trawled through to find out what you are asking 🤔 🤬

ONLY when posts are of possibly a sensitive matter such as dead or wounded do I only post in quotes only, and then I ADD A WARNING, so the thread does not automatically throw up serious images of wounded individuals, as I do try not to upset those that may read the site who are either sensitive or underage.
The only other times I do not post a quote is when the link is massive and will fill a large section of the thread, in those cases I explain what the link is about and post a link in the thread.
I try like hell to appease everyone while keeping the thread relevant to what is going on……….
I feel this is the most important thread this site has, because it is the one thread that is dealing with not just the war, but the possible repercussions for both mankind and this planet, the rest is just trivia.
Thanks all.
Edit: I do thank the mods in the leeway we all appear to be given in keeping this thread relevant.

Even Russia’s “friends“ appear that they are now turning their back on them.

On another topic, Nutty has been doing yeoman service sifting through stuff. He gets it wrong occasionally, as I've pointed out a few times, but does go back, checks, and alters as necessary. Keep it up sir!

I wonder what happens if Ukraine does succeed in liberating Crimea, and pushes Russia all the way back to 2014 borders and right out of Ukraine, thus `winning' the war.
Even if Ukraine puts up a border of iron along it's eastern frontiers, fortified by modern Western supplied weapons - what's to stop Russia continuing to wage very low-level warfare from it's own territory?
The odd Russian terrorist attack on Ukrainian territory, the odd Russian missile lobbed into Ukraine - maybe every few months or so.
At what point does NATO then allow Ukraine to join, accepting that an attack on Ukraine would then be an attack on NATO?
How does NATO define what would constitute a threshold attack on the newly admitted Ukraine which would trigger Article 5?
Vexed questions.
