Too bad they don't have the APKWS mod.

'Serious damage' at port on Danube river
Russia’s overnight drone strikes caused “serious” damage at the Ukrainian port of Izmail on the Danube river, an industry source told Reuters. Russia stepped up attacks on Ukrainian agricultural and port infrastructure after Moscow refused last month to extend the Black Sea grain deal that had allowed for exports of Ukrainian grain.
I wonder how this campaign against Ukranian grain went down at the recent Russia/African summit.
An industrial source also confirmed to Reuters that Izmail was the main target of the attack, describing the level of damage as “serious”.
Russia 'sets fire' to grain storage in Odesa
Russia set fire to some grain storage facilities in Odesa, as it launched an attack on the southern coastal region, Ukrainian officials said.
Russian drones attacked and damaged port and grain storage facilities.
Will this get the UNSC off of top dead center?

Intrigued to understand how Starlink know what uses the satcom kit is being put to. How can they know if its voice traffic or drone telemetry ? Ukraine mil surely don't speak to Elon about upcoming Ops so this must be coming via the US DoD ? Or is it just a location issue , they are restricted to coms in defined areas and have to ask for different area coverage ?

I see this a little differently.
I think Musk fears being seen as a 'war monger' or (worse) a 'war profiteer'. Plus he has no long-term interest in pissing off Russia. Musk is a long-term thinker and figures there will eventually be long term peace with Russia.
So he can make a public announcement that he's 'preventing' Starlink's use in the Ukraine war, but since the units provided to Ukraine are not geo-linked, the actual affect is minimal.
Gives Musk 'plausible deniability'.

This thread has wandered far from aviation and far from the war.
Is all quiet on the Eastern Front?

Seeing that most people posting on it are as far from the military as one can get now, I am not surprised.

Yeah, well, gotta say the Ukraine war is about a lot more than the military and battles.

Ukraine is fighting for it's very existence. The West has given support up to a point, we appear to be quite content to watch Ukrainians citizens bleed out so that we don't offend a CRIMINAL. The CRIMINAL has $#&t on every treaty, undertaking & agreement that they have bothered to put their worthless name to. If Russia is successful in achieving global ambivalence to Ukraines plight, there is a high probability that at some point in the foreseeable future, the injustice that has occurred against the citizens of Ukraine, and the charter that most of the rest of the world has signed to and to which we are supposed to be supportive of the intents of, will result in an expensive success for Putin, killing untold more Ukrainians in the interim, perpetrated by the war crimes that Putin seems intent to continue with. There is no Mr Nice Guy wrapped up in his system, he is a murderer, he has no interest in the lives that he wastes to achieve an extension of his perverse CRIMINAL enterprise that the majority of the citizens of his poisonous federation have no problem with.

This forum, through the efforts of Nutloose, and a few others keeps the subject at the front of a forum that has a substantial number of followers, usually individuals with a modest or better comprehension of the world situation at this time. There is a considerable number of us that have former military service, and others that have technical knowledge that is applicable to the situation that exists today, insofar as keeping up the noise on our continued support of Ukraine, and all actions to get the RF to reverse their train wreck of a foreign policy, to respect other parties borders. After all, that is what they signed up for by joining the UN in the first place. They want the membership and then $#1t on the obligations.

There are ulterior motives to supporting Ukraine; supporting their boots on the ground stop our boots being left on the field with our own blood and bits inside them, as there is zero in Russias history that suggests that Ukraine is their end game, they are a cancer, led by a CRIMINAL administration. We can either keep the subject in the public domain, as Nutloose is active doing, and give support to that end, or we can complain that much of this thread is peripheral to military aviation.

At this moment in time, Ukraine has requested OPSEC, and if it seems like slow news on military aviation matters, that should be a good thing.

I am conflicted on the publishing of strikes within Ukraine, it provides BDA to the criminals. Same goes for showing the drone imaging of attacks on RF, it is giving some intel away to the criminals. It may be good for keeping up the flames of outrage, but it is otherwise a gift to those trying to work out why some attacks are effective and others are not.

Our international response is of interest to the PRC leader as he weighs up whether the world at large has the fortitude to respond to further land grabs by despots.

Which is why we have this thread where almost daily we have to shift posts from here.

This is the Mil Forum and expected to keep to Military subject matter, the JetBlast deals more with the politics, background and general discussion.

Please help us to help you by posting in the most suitable thread; thanks 👍

Looks like the Russian Army has suffered a mass-casualty event.

5 Ukrainian HIMARS missiles have struck Russian infantry units gathering at a training camp on Dzharylhach Island in the Kherson region.

100+ Russians are estimated to have been killed.

There are battles raging across the front but little bein* reported - Ukraine because of COMSEC as they advance and Russia because of losses and a clampdown by the Kremlin.

With Oryx having retired, so to speak, this guy is a good source to follow. e.g.

Here are the losses I could identify today.

Do any HIMARS rounds support cluster munitions? These 5 looked like H.E.

Rapid development of new generations of drones isn’t just being limited to the air…

REMOTE CONTROL SEA POWER: Ukraine’s rapidly evolving naval drones threaten Russian warships in the Black Sea. Each iteration is increasingly stealthy, has greater range, and packs more destructive warheads. Their development can be seen below.

The occupational administration of Crimea is hiding an attack on a military base in Hvardiiske.

Ru media reported that drones were flying to the airfield, but all were shot down, although there is video confirmation of missile hits. The russians introduced censorship on news about arrivals against the backdrop of mass flight from Crimea after the strike on the Kerch Bridge, reports @evocation_info

The photo is straight off google earth but is 2023, so, yeah, dispersal seems to not have a high priority at that time. Must say, losing the planes on the ground is a better bit of military aviation than going into Ukraine which is a hornets nest anywhere west of their ramp & revetments. It is an invitation, like Tommy Lee Jones in M.I.B. yelling "EAT ME!" at another cockroach (not Lord Farquard per se)

Rolling drunk soldiers/sailors/airmen for their cash on hand is a very old story.
