BREAKING: Prigozhin's Wagner PMC mercenaries have captured a Russian army Lt. Colonel. The embers of civil war in Russia begin to glow brighter.
It appears both sides suffered significant casualties in this Russian-on-Russian gun fight.
Status of the Russian army: a Russian privately-owned armed group detains, beats a lieutenant-colonel of Russia's regular army (his name's Roman Venevitin), then puts out a video of his interrogation.
The head of the Wagner Group Yevgeny Prigozhin released footage of the commander of the Russian 72nd Motor Rifle Brigade being interrogated by Prigozhin's subordinate.
The commander confessed that he ordered Russian troops to open fire at Wagner's vehicle near Bakhmut on May 17.
Ramzan Kadyrov says he has 70,000 fully equipped and spetsnaz-trained troops in Ukraine and offers his help in Belgorod. Aside from Russian MoD and PMC Wagner, there is a third side in this internal conflict, Kadyrov, who has beef with Prigozhin.
Whether he actually has these troops is another question….

Let's be honest, this is not a position the attacking side wants to find itself in.
You exhausted all your offensive potential, you're bracing for an ever-increasing likelihood of a major defensive battle with forces very different from what you had at the peak, all while the enemy is making significant moves in your vulnerable underbelly at your pre-war borders.
Things indeed seem so bad that I sometimes think they are giving up on purpose.
Their channels are all just sharing each other's statements about the "nazis", it's so much cope and zero substance, no clear military narrative. Prigozhin is the only one appearing in public but he's hardly convincing or reassuring, just trolling.
I think Russia could be at the negotiating table right now begging Ukraine and the Allies to agree to peace conditions in order to have a chance to save the country.
And this is just how things are right this moment, before anything that's coming has happened... (which I have no insights into).

That is 10% of the male population of Chechnya; and around 50% of all military age males... Who is running the shop in the background? and how is he intending on retaining any power in Chechnya as he has his own problems there?
I would suggest dropping a zero off his estimates..
