I wonder how they will do that if countries close their airspace to them, its a long way round to avoid overflying countries on route to the Bahamas

Given their own rather cavalier attitude to inter-governmental agreements, why would they ever expect any government to stand by one, and not arrest them on arrival?

Le Figaro reporting today that two Ukrainian former Antonov workers have been arrested today for aiding the Russians to destroy the A-225 Mriya at Hostomel a year ago:

I'm sure that in the very beginning a number of cowardly Ukrainians were quick to side with the Russians in order to obtain brownie points thinking that it would be only a matter of (3) days before their country effectively became Russian. Now they are going to pay the price for their treason!

It also gives a pretty good look at the priorities of the Putin government right now - Russian grunts are dying by the thousands in poorly planned near suicidal attacks in Ukraine while suffering acute ammo and equipment shortages, while the Russian government works to ensure the elite have access to nice vacation spots...

Various news sources reporting UKR daily loss rate in Bakhmut in the hundreds. I hope not as that looks unsustainable. Possibly deliberate misinformation to entice RF to throw more meat in the grinder.

Then Prigozhin complaining about ammo unavailability and reports that his troops are instructed to fight with trench shovels.

Fog of war.

According to post #15295 Prigozhin personally complains to still not receive enough ammunition and to be blocked from asking for more by being removed from all government phone lines and special access. This does not sound like they can continue some major attack? It might be disinformation but who knows for sure these days?

An interesting read into the background of the region. It’s long so not posted.

That's a much easier digestible presentation of most of the information given in Timothy Snyder's 23 part lecture series on Ukrainian history.*

I'm creating a timeline of Ukrainian history, I might post it here if or when I get it in a finished form.
For now I will be integrating anything new from Peter Nimitz's piece into the timeline.

* I wish I could post the link without a gigantic picture of Tim Snyder being displayed.

Edit:
I immediately came up against this author's unusual theory about the origins of the Slavs.
But I suppose this is the wrong place to have a discussion of this topic.

You need to watch this one, the last statement sums up just how much these guys are putting on the line over and above their lives.

Early footage just released of Russian forces destroying one of their helicopters at Hostomel prior to leaving, a bit heavy on the explosives there.

Wow, partisans near Vladivostok have torched an SU-27

Damn, they took out a Stormer or at least damaged it, returning to the same firing position multiple times appears lax

I wonder if a simple net quickly erected around or over a vehicle could prevent these attacks?
