Is Ukraine about to have a war?

More than 100 Russian conscripts from Bryansk allegedly refused to go to Ukraine from their base in Soloti, Belgorod region. Photos and even live video streams by soldiers from there allow to suggest why: no training, old equipment, total mess.
One of the soldiers reached out to journalists with his complaints (t.me/sotaproject/47…). He says commanders told them they will be sent in a few days "to retake Lyman", while only one man from the previous group of 100 mobilized soldiers sent to Ukraine returned.
This claim was corroborated today by the relative of one of the soldiers from the same group. He was sent to Lyman on October 1st and is missing since then.…

UAF have confirmed they shot down 4 Russian attack helicopters in 18 minutes today.
The Report

The defeat of another 2 Russian helicopters is being checked, so we can talk about 6 downed "birds" of the occupying army. This was reported to the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"From 8.40 to 8.58 on October 12, in the south of Ukraine, anti-aircraft missile units of the Air Force destroyed at least four enemy attack helicopters (probably Ka-52), which provided fire support for the ground occupation forces in the southern direction," the Air Force noted.

In one morning. Looks like someone made a mistake in planning a sortie…

If we are concerned that our own troops involvement is a bridge too far, then how about getting the same gear on loan to the Ukrainians and those crew that are prepared to go do an eagle squadron for the closest thing to a just cause we have seen in the last 75 years.
GOOD - I THINK that you have backed off from a NFZ - total air war with Russia and risk of escalation to an Eagle sqn comprising the latest gear F35s etc- sort of mercenaries?
I don’t think that the RAF / NATO are worried about risking their own lives - they would be justifiably confident with their superb trg and superior kit of defeating the Russian Air Force in quick time but the risks of escalation would be too great.

An observation about air warfare: if you are trying to enforce a No Fly Zone, EW-spectrum superiority or dominance is a prerequisite.
(I am not sure if my terminology is current; someone please correct me if I didn't use the current jargon).

I cannot see how we would now put up a no fly zone now that Russia is on the backfoot when we refused to do it when Ukraine was.

The Institute for the Study of War said on Oct. 11 that open-sourced data supports Ukraine's military reports that Russia is loading trains with weapons, equipment, ammunition, and other unspecified materiel from Belarus to relocate to areas of engagement further south and east.
The experts think such activity is "incompatible with setting conditions for a large-scale Russian or Belarusian ground attack" against Ukraine from Belarus.

And 10404 for the info that they are transferring suicide drones to Belarus.
It would seem that the impediment to other countries, wading in to the fight to provide collective self-defence is the risk of upsetting Vlad the Impaler to the point where he completely loses the plot and nukes the world. It would be the last thing he would ever did. There would be few if any winners, assuming his nukes actually worked.
So all we seem to be able to do is hurl brickbats at him at the UN and meme him to death on Twitter, wile we wait in the hope, that someone in the Kremlin helps him out of a sixth floor window.
It may of course reach a point where we do have to take the risk and help Ukraine with boots on the ground, cruise missiles in the air and a no fly zone, citing Article 51 as our justification.

No idea what's going on here.
Interestingly, the part reportedly found (labelled BSU-59/B), if you search for it is part of a guided missile assembly: https://www.wbparts.com/rfq/1410-01-468-9113.html

BREAKING: Russia using nuclear weapons in Ukraine will have "unprecedented consequences" for Russia. It would almost 'certainly' draw a physical response from many NATO allies, & potentially from NATO itself, senior NATO official - Reuters

My fear is that if Putrid is given a quick “Base Jumping for Dictators’ (Sans Parachute) Course” that he will be replaced with a more competent, fanatical, bloodthirsty warmonger.
Best case would be if they toss Putrid then engage in a long, noisy, fratricidal battle to see who will be the next “Glorious Leader” of the failed Russian State as the Ukrainians defeat the “army of the unwilling” in the field. A nice chaotic not so civil war at home would lead to even more chaos at the front.
Unfortunately I highly doubt there exists any person or group capable of assuming power who are ready, willing and able to end this idiotic war and withdraw to pre 2014 lines.
“Operation Quagmire” will continue to spit out mangled cannon fodder.

Russia modifying 800 T-62 tanks, some probably more than 50 years old, for its war in Ukraine. This probably means it has run out of all of its modern (relatively) T-64, T-72 and T-80 tanks, and can’t manufacture new ones quickly.
