Its interesting to witness the ratcheting in capabilities of the kit being supplied to Ukraine, if not their numbers. Quite a clever tactic - get Russia 'used' to us supplying one piece of kit, then move on to the next, more capable system, and so on (imagine the likes of HIMARS and NASAM being countenanced way back in March?)

On which note:

Going in opposite directions…

The Russians started with their few PGMs and hi-tech weapons and, as they’ve used them up, digging out older less accurate weapons.

The Ukrainians started out with their Russian and low tech western weapons and are gradually getting longer range, higher precision more lethal weapons.

Not difficult to see the final end result….

Bear baiting is a dangerous sport. I mean, an embargo on them importing vodka….

Lithuania has expanded the restrictions on the transit of goods to Kaliningrad through its territory - Reuters.

Additional goods barred from Monday morning include concrete, wood, alcohol, and alcohol-based industrial chemicals.

Ukraine is also now going after Russian ammunition dumps in an attempt to level the playing field

https://euromaidanpress.com/2022/06/...rear/?swcfpc=1

Ukraine is dropping grenades in fish bait bombs.. the one going into a tank hatch was one, the Russians are using plastic cups with grenades in them, see both here

I don't know who would be more frightened, the one on the receiving end or the one firing it

I thought concrete was banned the last time, hence the rush in their DIY stores?

Lithuania is obviously being out up to this. Great fun tho...

Due to the recapture of Snake Island, the passage of grain ships has reopened.

Thanks to the liberation of Snake Island from the Russian invaders, the mouth of Bystre has become available for the passage of freight ships carrying agricultural products, reported the press service of the Seaports Administration of Ukraine.Shipping through the Danube-Black Sea Canal has been restored, and many ships are anticipating passage through the Sulina Canal. Now, it is possible to use the channel of the Danube-Black Sea River for the entry and exit of ships transporting agricultural products,” said the Seaport Administration. It is reported that two barge-towing vessels have already passed through the mouth of Bystre to their destination.
Meanwhile the US are sending 8 more HIMARS.

Another Voyager into Brize from Rzeszow, presumably carrying Ukrainian conscripts for training.

From the colonel's brief, it was important to me (aviation material) to see the verification of Russian war planes using Belorus airspace as a their volume to attack into Ukraine. It's almost like a privileged sanctuary; I wonder what a successful SAM deployment and launch into Belorus airspace to hit such strike aircraft would mean in terms of impact.

As they have handed over an airfield near the border for the sole use of Russia, perhaps it could be deemed as Russian territory and be able to be hit. I do wonder if Lukashenko then put the Belarus military on a war footing to attack, would they then say enough is enough and get shot of him.

I invite you to check out the last 3 minutes of the Austrian colonel's excellent briefing, which has to do with which regions of Ukraine are its economic engine. (Go up ten or twenty posts).
Is Ukraine about to have a war?
A lot of the areas the Russians want to consolidate control of represent a substantial fraction of GDP for Ukraine's grain and other resource production, not to mention the substantial industrial city of Mariupol already lost.

That may be telling, NPO Almaz - Raspletin can't be making their lords happy over their missiles. The parent company's marine construction military stuff doesn't seem to be getting much involvement, so the S-300/S-400 could be underperforming, which would still be better than most of the tractor factories.

"General Strike" takes on a new meaning in Russia today.

In an article in focus.de today, there was discussion about training Ukrainian troops on the PzH2000. What interested me though, was the fact that it stated that a colonel was the commander of all artillery in the Bundeswehr. It didn't say how many guns/gunners that is, but isn't a colonel a low rank to be in charge of a whole "arm". ?
