Took 2 days to get the guy sorted to the party line. Back to the Hitler bunker gang of sycophantic followers of the dear leader. Nothing can go wrong with that.
Fascinating that the movie of the Rusian counter-battery shows a lot of arty, and zero secondaries. Takes skill to miss every shot.

Shapps vs. Aeroflot:
As a channel 4 report indicated, Aeroflot doesn't actually own most of its aircraft (much like many airlines) and that any action against them is futile.

It's a funny thing about wars, it takes two to tango and also to stop.
Take Bush announcing the war in Iraq was over, unfortunately the Iraqi's obviously never got the memo.

In the meantime, a reported tape of a shot down crew.

Interesting read about the options.

Beyond tragic

That the poor brave b4stards who have been defending the Azovstal complex will probably be treated as "war criminals" is beyond tragic and infuriating.
Paul Mason's essay in the link posted above is well worth reading.

Link from Major General Mick Ryan. He seems impressed…

“The Russian high command behaves as if its troops are an afterthought, making tactical decisions as if it can simply throw people at poorly designed objectives until it succeeds.”

A superb article by MassDara at ForeignAffairs

Wokka,

So, to translate…

Bitching Betty: “Fire in left engine, fire in right engine, FCS failure, check FRCs, prepare to eject”

I think the rest is one side of an exchange between the pilot and his WSO about where the FLOT is until the aircraft departs and he calls eject.

Sounds remarkably composed in the circumstances.

For those looking for a translation: Woman’s voice — plane’s computer system listing failure: * Left engine fire * Right engine fire * Fly-by-wire system malfunction (СДУ) Pilot try not to loose their **** and discuss when to eject. Screaming at the end.
Though I rather liked this reply

Pilot: We r f*cked, can you help Alexa. Alexa: Let me find you a flying tank turret.

Given that there is as yet no armistice / no ceasefire agreement, how can you make that assertion? While I would (as an observer) prefer to see any such agreement include such a provision, and I am sure that President Zelensky would demand such, there isn't even an agreement on the table to haggle over yet.

ORAC: thanks for that link, very thought provoking. And quite frankly, it's depressing from the point of view of a career military guy. (How can you treat your soldiers that way?) One particular point among the many made is the old self injury theme. Soldiers doing the self inflicted wounds to get out of the war was something that came up in Viet Nam in some cases.
Spoiler

Jeez, will she just shut up?! Isn't there a big red mute button somewhere? He probably ejected to get away from her nagging voice.

I'm amazed the Ukrainian leadership instructed them to surrender. Do they honestly believe Russia will stick to its word after everything that they've said and done in relation to these troops? As for a prisoner exchange, unless Ukraine have captured a swathe of the oligarch's kids, there's nothing Russia would be willing to trade for them.

Interview with SU34 pilot

I will make a leap and guess this is the pilot of the plane in the audio recordings above.

I hesitated to post as the last one i posted from same badgering interviewer received some negativity ( the guy flying SEAD). This one is out and out running bombing missions with FAB500s etc. and seems a quite senior officer.

Middle 1/3 is all politics, , beginning and end is mainly aviation

The latest sanctions have nothing to do with who owns Aeroflot's aircraft.
