So that's what was in the pit to connect the VC Ten phone into to make a trunk call.

This is what happens when you chop off half my tusks so I lose my balance.

All this Council Tax I pay, and still they can't fix the potholes !
(Seriously, there's a poem by Kipling: titled (IIRC) "The Four Foot Drain" - worth a read if you can find it)...D.

A small voice of protest . . . . . this one is offensive. It is also bad karma.
If it were a photograph of FLT LT Bill Newton VC, being executed by
his depraved captors . .. or one of those disturbing shots taken during
the Vietnam War of contorted faces as the bullet enters the skull . . ..
they could not by any stretch of the satirical imagination be subjects for
a risible caption. And so it should be for the poor elephant, his face
showing all to plain, the depths of his agony.

Fantome. I agree and now personally regret having participated in this round. I'm however pleased that the Elephant was rescued.

Rescuers spent three hours freeing the elephant, who was unharmed, by using a bulldozer to widen the hole.

Sorry Fantome,
Have to say that never crossed my mind that it could be as you describe.
The photo had no caption and I found it in a website of so called funny animals photos.
If people feel I should withdraw the photo then I'm happy to do so. and allow someone else to take over.

In fact on reflection and Coffs update I will withdraw the photo,

Sorry everybody, never wanted to upset the apple cart like that.

Ok, well, now that Clicker & Coff have been made to feel bad on the thread when a quiet PM would have sufficed, lets all chill out & move on.
I think the contributors & pic suppliers do their utmost to ensure that 'offensive' & 'terminal' images are not used however, occasionally, there is a chance of this happening.
This is one of the best threads going on Pprune & it's one of the few that remains positive & upbeat.

To be honest no complaints on how Fantome raised the subject. But as you say Buster these things can happen.
No bad feelings at all just feel stupid for not thinking along the same lines.
Fully agree with your verdict on this thread so onwards and upwards because I enjoy this thread and gives me a good chuckle on each entry.
Where some of you folks get your captions I have no idea but keep them coming please.

Clicker no offence taken here, I knew it was rescued shortly afterwards, so cannot see an issue. Life is like that, If you wanted to go totally PC none of us would show any images of people with weapons in one form or the other, be it a warplane to a pistol holding German, because at the end of the day they are trained to use it to kill.
I would personally just score it now someone has voiced an opinion and we can all move on.
P.S Busters entries are not worth the time reading

Many photos posted online anywhere/everywhere could be seen as offensive. It would be difficult to find a photo that doesn't offend someone, somewhere when there are folk of so many different beliefs and sensitivities online. But this here thread is meant to be merely lighthearted fun. I saw no comment that rejoiced in the elephant's unfortunate situation. As was pointed out, the animal was rescued not long afterwards, so it can hardly be compared to a war death!

You want offensive, go look in the bathroom mirror
I still cannot see anything wrong with the image, unfortunate for it to happen to the little beggar yes, but it was his fault and he was rescued..
I have been watching the Para Medics Series on Afghanistan where they have legs and all sorts missing and shown for all to see, and that is far, far more graphic, do I find that offensive either? No, just sheer pride in what these guys are doing and my heartfelt angst to those wounded.
