Until now, the 'crack' of a Christmas cracker might have been followed by the ejection of a little green man on a polythene parachute. Here, M&S test a prototype which offers the cracker-puller something rather more useful; production pigeons will, of course, be provided with ear-defenders.

"Delivery of Christmas poultry to outlying areas has always been a problem," explained the M&S spokesman, "but our new delivery method - the 'Turkey-Chute' - will change all that. The insulated jacket ensures that the birds arrive just as fresh as when they were frozen. Initial testing with smaller birds is going well, but the three-bird-roast might be something of a challenge."

"Irvin wanted to award him a Caterpillar Pin, but we've decided against that because we think he'd probably eat it. We haven't told him yet - we're still trying to find a way of letting him down gently."

A quick game is a good game. We may get another in before Santa's round the world solo attempt.
The winner (because its the first thing I thought of too), from out of left field:
Chef Bruz with early testing of the Cirrus CAPS system
Congrats and I'll send the trophy north via road freight.

24 hrs with no response, so as the CST was heading in his direction anyway, we'll go with a repechage and it's to Arm out the Window with

'Rocket' had been particularly successful - some would say a bit too successful - so the Pigeon Racing Handicapper General was taking no chances with this week's event.

Seasons Greetings to all, and take it away Sir!
