QF mandates Vaccine
The only fear I see these days is those afraid of getting a needle jab. Out and about on these sunny days recently in Melbourne pretty much everyone is just doing whatever they want. Even watched a couple of coppers having a coffee and chat down the main street with some locals that were not socially distancing.
If you are afraid you need to go seek help. Or maybe some of that totalitarian, bourgeoisie juice to ease you back into society.
If you want to be part of the Proletariat and earn some rubles get out and get jabbed.

It is also worth noting that if someone refuses to vaccinate and is subsequently dismissed, a successful challenge that finds the dismissal unfair does not necessarily result in a remedy of reinstatement.

T1/T2 workers are going to have to comply in customer facing roles. They can get reinstated to employment, but only if suitable roles out of public facing are possible. If the company had already tried reasonably to accommodate this then it's probably not going to be a successful challenge. That was part of the reasoning during the recent case in aged care, the worker refused to be vaccinate, she could not for-fill her role at home or in other areas of the business so dismissal was the only option. The commissioners upheld the decision.
In theory if you were a pilot for an airline, you could possibly be moved to 'freight only' flights removed from public contact if a position was vacant. But the position would have to be vacant and no one else displaced as a result etc etc, there would be no obligation to create a position.

If, on the other hand, one gives you the benefit of the doubt regarding intelligence the presumption would be your enduring fear is a result of being one of the aforementioned obese who really do have something to fear from covid. This would make sense and I pity you.
That you welcome a couple of "coppers" chatting with citizens over coffee instead of shooting rubber bullets at them as “a nice change” is a measure and a very sad indictment of how successful the Vic gov’t has been with their tactics. That you don’t even get it and are utterly clueless is an indication of the direction in which the process will continue to go. You are a happy, compliant dog wagging his tail at his master for giving him a treat instead of a flogging.

Actually your clear misunderstanding of what totalitarianism is what provoked me to respond, I FEAR for your educational standard. Also your mental health may be suffering as well, please take care.
I will expand on this, as it is clear you FEAR the state for some reason, that they are misleading you and I on some line of thought that the next step will be complete control. That is real delusional FEAR. I have no FEAR of this happening, no FEAR of getting the virus, being vaccinated and no FEAR of the police, not that I am particularly law abiding, just I know what I can and can't do morally. As someone wiser said, "rules are for the guidance of the wise and obedience of fools".
You would only FEAR rules if you didn't understand why they are in place and what they represent.
PS* I used FEAR in capitals because it seems scarier...

So you say that someone presenting with solid delusional thoughts of the state against them is a valid argument? I think the AvMed threads might spill over into this.....
Just becuase someone writes a ton of waffle does not mean it's intelligent. Look at the crud I write.

Well apart from the fact that we are still a democracy, and voting for another state parliament will begin next year, there is no ban on opposition politics or parties, and freedom of the opposition is not in question. Then this in no way is Totalitarianism.
You could argue there are hints of an Illiberal regime with police state controls, but seriously not being able to go to the pub is hardly being oppressed.

Great post. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out though as not everything the gov't mandates is immune to successful legal challenge and the wheels of justice turn slowly most of the time (they certainly will for anyone challenging a health order).
—-Blah, blah——
There was an interesting commentary in The Australian today in which was addressed, amongst other things, the fear which has been deliberately sowed in the community to help induce compliance among the masses. when the average Aussie wholeheartedly jumps on board with this totalitarianism but the vast majority of the masses appear to have played their role to the hilt as evidenced:

It is hard to argue that the current situation is totalitarian. The COVID crisis has seen the decentralisation of power from federal to state.

That's just a supply chain issue. If the States were responsible for raising revenue via income tax and GST, they'd have the ability to fundJobKeeper too.

Yes that would be the ideal situation where the States can then compete for population via tax. That would actually keep the States in line and stop the clowns in WA winging year in year out about hard done by they are. The stupidity of the current is system is that it encourages largess by the States as there is no fiscal responsibility or consequences. They can just screw up with bad policy then go cap in hand to Canberra with a hard luck story.

Actually the three states that generate all the revenue are the ones that get less than 1 back per capita for GST are the ones in lockdown, WA, Vic and NSW. All the other states receive greater than their productive share of GST, so bludge off the other states. NT and Tas being the worst offenders. So if the states handled all their own taxes the 3 in lockdown would be far richer in tax revenue than currently.

It has been said the states were only too happy to give up their income tax programs and pass the responsibility to federal because raising taxes tends to get the populace upset, reliance on grants from federal provides a good whip with which to lash the feds as well. Win win for state government.

There's also some opinions that say that the states were coerced into letting go of taxation as part of war efforts in WW2.
That last bit does not sound like they were happy to lose that income stream.
In 1942 the federal government introduced legislation that increased the federal government income tax rates to raise more revenue. The legislation provided for reimbursement grants to
the states provided that they ceased to levy their own income taxes. Although a state could legally continue to impose its income tax, doing so would impose an increased burden on its residents and also disqualify that state from receiving federal government grants. In practice, this prevented the states from continuing to levy their own income taxes.

At the end of the War, the states sought to regain their income taxing powers but were unsuccessful.
