There is a few amongst us apparently. One clown has just been shown the door but insists on wearing a Qantas uniform to rallies masquerading as the saviour. God help us.
Couple of others are senior to me so “go ahead make my day”.

Anyone not getting vaccinated based on legitimate medical advice or pre-existing conditions doesn't count as an anti-vaxxer, although I think the sorts of pre-existing medical conditions that preclude vaccination, immune disorders and so on, would make holding a Class 1 medical virtually impossible so the overlap of groups between active pilots with a Class 1 and pre-existing medical conditions would be vanishingly small. Cabin crew might be a different story, although I think if your immune system cannot handle a vaccine then being exposed to a couple of hundred people and their germs every day at work is a much greater risk.

The overlap of groups between those people holding a Class 1 medical and those sharing Holocaust memes because they dont like being told they are wrong about their self-taught ideas on modern medical research is much larger. If you're lucky enough not to have seen these memes, an ever-renewing selection of them are always available at the Herman Cain Awards page.

If I were pushing retirement anyway, I would masquerade as an antivaxxer, "no sir not for me you bunch of authoritarian nazis" that would probably be worth at least another 10G just to go away quietly

Just remember, not everyone behind you in the trench encouraging you to charge the machine gun nest wants to see you win the Victoria Cross! And not every First Officer nodding and saying, "Yess Capn, you've got them now, those bastards treading on our rights, someone needs to make a stand!" has your best interests at heart!

You're absolutely right and that is nearly always the case. That's why it won't work. Has anyone actually seen this mandate and who signed it, or is it still as I understand it a please get vaccinated in the best interests of the staff.

Well, if it's a Boeing and just off the production line it could very well be - I see a brand new USAF KC-46 on it's delivery flight was subjected to an un-commanded and unstoppable fuel transfer because someone had left a plastic bottle cap in the tank (and no one at Boeing seems to check these things anymore, nor care).

I've always been a 'if it's not a Boeing I'm not going kind of person but I think I'm starting to be quite happy that Qantas has chosen the A350-1000ULR for its ultra long haul flights. Not sure I'd want to be on a new Boeing half way across the Pacific when something decided to stop working because of someone's lunch wrapper or drink bottle top being left in a tank.

Yes. And yellow fever vaccine is mandatory in some parts.

A booster after ten years is generally recommended for consideration and used to be a requirement for entry into some countries.

Yes. The proposal became policy a few weeks ago.

Excellent, at least the company is now responsible for it. It remains to be seen if it is lawful. Most of us in the business community are back peddling on this issue for that reason. Who pays, who polices it and how do we do this. We think it's all too hard and un-necessary. We intend to wait it out and see what happens.

P.S what does the policy state

Well, you will have to get a job with Qantas to know that won’t you.

It states what was said pages ago. No jab, no job.

Is it lawful? Didn’t SPC or someone just win a case about it?

how will they police it? Probably the same was as something like a passport or visa. . If a jab is required, it will be required by a certain date. No jab, stand down until you get it.

Nope...

Not allowed out of the room for any of that fun stuff at the moment.
Mrs Palmer and her 5 daughter doesn’t count.

It would be nice to at least be allowed out of the room and into the hotel restaurant for dinner!

Well if your not willing to share what the policy is, it's a moot point, discussion closed on the basis that if no-one outside of QF knows then there's no point discussing it here any further.

Pretty much what I said pages ago. Work for QF, get vaccinated or don't work for QF.

No idea why this discussion is still going.

Who's this "most of us are back peddling" you speak of? The Royal "We" think it's all too hard?

Who pays? The vaccinations are free.
Is it lawful? How does it look here: NSW: Public Health (COVID-19 Air Transportation Quarantine) Order (No 3) 2021 Part 5, Section 31 if you want to skip to the relevant parts. Paragraph 4 states that a person who employs the nominated person must ensure the person complies with the direction, so effectively an employer affected by these laws is required to ensure their employees are vaccinated. Have court cases challenging this been successful? No.
Who polices it? Who polices that you have a Class 1, or in different industries a Working with Children check or a flu shot or a drivers licence to deliver pizza?

I
It has been shared multiple times, NO JAB NO JOB! It really is as simple as that.
