Any idea if the interview results will be declared immediately and what the next steps would be?

bombayhues
27th Jan 2011, 14:39
@sandy
The interview results for the last batch were announced almost a month after the interview and for the batch before that it was just 2 days after the interview. So it really depends on what IndiGo's current requirement is.

Hello Everyone. All the best to the pilots appearing for the interview. Not all have been called. So give it your best.

@TNT
The address can be found on indigo website, you certainly don't intend to send it to the CEOs house. Take it light :-)

@thearsenal
Yes indigo will recruit next in April.

@Mir
Don't hope that indigo will absorb you after the type if you have no hours on it. Also the last batch has arrived back with the rating and then the current batch is almost completed with selections, so indigo is getting a steady supply for the right seat. Just to caution you n nothing more than that. I wish you luck with other airlines.

Goodluck Fellas!

Son I don't reply to pm's. I dont get much free time, and keep getting pm's in good numbers so. If u want to ask something post it here, I might reply here or atleast someone else will.

Also kindly care to read the thread from the beginning and also about who started it. It's not that difficult to notice. You might get answers to a lot of your questions.

@Speedbird

Could you be little bit more specific about the questions asked ?

Any questions you found particularly hard or never heard of before ?

Speedbird1014
4th Feb 2011, 18:50
nothin i have never heard before, in the technical they asked
symptoms of hypoxia
why does jet engine have better performance at altitude
why does turboprops fly lower
and the vast majority were just hr related questions like
how did you choose your flying school.
what are your future plans
where do you see yourself in next 20 years...etc

All the best to anyone who will be appearing in future assessments... :ok:

Hello friends, has anyone got the LOI?

And when does indigo takes medicals of the pilots?
Before giving LOI or before signing the contract?

Thank you!

IndiGo doesn't have medicals for the pilots like Jet. They consider the DGCA medicals

Good morning all

I got a call yesterday from Capt Patrick saying that he wants to do a short interview with me on the phone.

He asked me for a good time to call back, which I gave. But he said that the interview might not happen yesterday, but today. (Depending on when he can get another HR person on a conference call)

What is this about? and has anyone else that has cleared the interviews been approached like this?

Update:

Got a call from Capt Patrick again. Was incredibly friendly. Saying IndiGo is going to fly me out to Gurgaon (tickets paid for), will be consulted over some of the observations of the interview and hopefully my LOI will also be waiting for me.

I'm in Hyderabad till the 19th and I told him so, so he said that someone will get in touch with me and co-ordinate and that i'll most probably will fly out on Monday.

1. Name: ________
2. License No.: ______
3. Type of license: Commercial Pilot’s License.

The type rating is with _______, and the syllabus is in par with the DGCA requirements

I therefore request the NOC in my favour so that I can confirm my slot for the training under the self sponsored programme at ________ .

Thanking you in anticipation,

You'll need the following :

1. Application letter addressed to CFOI.

@milton
yes the date is confirmed and you got the address right. dont worry about that.

but make the payment only if you are prepared for the exam.
1) exam is not easy
2) if you flunk you dont get a chance to reappear for the next six months.

so if you think you are good then go for it else just wait for the next recruitment patiently and prepare yourself well. if you do that, no one can take that right seat away from you.

Goodluck:ok:

ok some basic practice questions which i can think of right now:

increase in flaps will cause v2 to increase, decrease or remain unchanged.

is max cruise thrust greater, lesser or equal to max continous thrust

how does change in altitude affect specific fuel consumption(sfc) - increase, decrease, remains constant.

what is the best air:fuel ratio by weight for jet engines

at which point or region of a jet engine is the pressure at its highest

For a given aerofoil, the AOA which results in a stall:
(a) remains constant regardless of bank, load or TAS
(b) varies directly with the degree of bank
(c) varies with the speed of airflow around aerofoil

The stall speed of an aircraft will increase with:
(a) decrease in the load factor
(b) increase in the pitch attitude for straight and level
(c) increase in the all up weight of the aircraft

The three axis of an aircraft intersect at the:
(a) centre of pressure
(b) centre of gravity
(c) midpoint of the datum line

When approaching the stall, the separation point
(a) always stays in the same position
(b) moves rearward
(c) moves towards the transition point

The primary function of the rudder, while entering a turn from straight-and-level flight, is to:
(a) overcome yaw caused by lowered aileron on higher wing
(b) overcome yaw caused by lowered aileron on lower wing
(c) overcome yaw caused by raised aileron on higher wing

An aircraft is in a state of equilibrium in:
(a) a steady rate 1 turn
(b) in a steady climb
(c) during take off

Adverse aileron yaw is reduced by the use of:
(a) vortex generators
(b) frise type ailerons
(c) boundary layer fences

Flying near high ground or mountains with winds in excess of 15km, you can expect strong turbulence and down draughts. What would you do to avoid damaging the aircraft and / or loosing control?
(a) maintain your heading and speed
(b) slow down to manoeuvring speed
(c) slow down to manoeuvring speed and fly upwind of ridge

On a cold, clear, humid night with a light wind, radiation fog will form. What might form when the wind picks up to 15kts?
(a) dew
(b) frost
(c) stratus

Which clouds are the least likely to produce airframe icing?
(a) middle cloud
(b) high cloud
(c) vertical development cloud

scale numerical are imp.

@adityaslg

buddy you got 2,3,5 and last question incorrect.
The correct answers are as follows:

max cruise thrust less than max continous thrust

The SFC remains almost constant irrespective of altitude, its a ratio of fuel flow by thrust, so as thrust is reduced the fuel flow also reduced and the ratio remains the same ( your reasoning was correct but answer marked was wrong)

at which point or region of a jet engine is the pressure at its highest
ans: at the inlet of the Combustion Chamber

and the last one as already pointed out is High Clouds. rest all are correct.

Sfc= f.flo/g.s , as u go higher, lesser density. Therefore, more tas,
Inshort sfc reduces.
Am i wrong?

about the hi pressure region in jet engine, its got to be h.p,c in an axial flow type, as the pressure keeps increasing with each stage . Your ans could be correct for a centrifugal type.

LOFT
22nd Feb 2011, 14:09
@cobracommander

SFC = fuel flow : thrust

Since at high altitudes the density of air is low, the fuel flow is reduced to maintain the best air to fuel ratio. But for a given Mach speed flown the amount of Thrust required is less at a high cruise altitude compared to that required at lower altitudes.

Since fuel flow and thrust both are reduced at similar rates, the ratio remains nearly constant. SFC also has a lot to do with the weight of the aircraft.
Consider the following example, taken from somewhere else :

Tsfc is wonderfully low at sea-level on take-off, perhaps 0.35kg/kg-hr ISA. If your aircraft weighs 200 tonnes and its lift to drag ratio is 10:1 it needs 20 tonnes thrust to remain in equilibrium. At sea-level tsfc 0.35kg/kg-hr that's a fuel flow of 20000 x 0.35 = 7000kg/hr. But if the aircraft magically cleaned up its act, pulled in all extruberances and staggered up to FL290 it might have a L/D of 20:1 and supposing it still weighed 200 tonnes the specific fuel consumption would have risen to about 0.65kg/kg-hr. Do the sums and the fuel flow is 6500kg/hr for equilibrium. Later on having burned off some weight and settled at FL370 the tsfc improves, getting more "on-axis" to mebbe 0.55kg/kg/hr but push your luck to FL390 and tsfc is beginning to go a bit "off-axis" performance-wise again and tsfc tends towards 0.58kg/kg/hr say. All this for my example aircraft. Pick another aircraft and its different.

what you claim is true for TsfC which is different from sfc.
You're confused between the two.
Sfc has got nothing to do with thrust.

Im not an atpl so my views are limited on tsfc

@CC

Buddy i am open to learning something new or something which i dont have any knowledge about, but your data on SFC seems to be incorrect. There is no direct relationship between SFC and G.S . The formula you provided "sfc= ff/gs" is not accurate.

Let me explain you what i know.

SFC is measured in two ways.
1) For Turbo Fan Engines
SFC is measured in terms of Thrust, called as Thrust specific fuel consumption(Tsfc )or just Sfc. And its a ratio of fuel flow to Thrust.

2) For Turbo Props or Turbo Shaft Engines
SFC is measured in terms of Power. And it is a ratio of fuel flow to shaft horse power (shp).

SFC in itself is nothing more than just a fuel flow rate. It has to be associated with, and measured in terms of either thrust or power in order to use it as a tool for differentiating between different type of engines and their performance.

I hope you have some idea now about what i am trying to say.:ok:

this questions is for those who cleared the Interview...Is group exercise so mentioned on their cae website still part of their assessment. If yes, then

There are two terms
1. Navigation SFC
2. Engine SFC

Navigation SFC= FF/GS
whereas Engine SFC= FF/Engine thrust.

Hope this clears the doubt.

@dg737: Yaar! Human performance is not all that huge for you to ask for specific topics or chapters. Just read all that you can get your hands on. From what I have heard from friends who have given the papers (some of whom have cleared too) that apart from basic human performance questions (hypoxia, hyperventilation, etc..) they ask CRM questions which involves reading the question, as well as the options, carefully and choosing what you feel is the best fit

@sonsal: Again I haven't followed the CAE papers very closely after that Dec'10 attempt but till then questions on flight planning were very basic. Don't know if CX2s are allowed or not but one can certainly solve the numericals without using them. What I was told is that they ask basic CP/PNR, LMT, questions related to drift, etc...

Hope this helps!

24. If you're flying through rain that freezes on impact, ...
(choose the correct one)

a) You're flying near thunderstorms
b) You're flying through a cold front
c) The freezing level would be at a higher altitude
d) Descending would make the ice go away from the airframe

I believe the answer to this is b), as freezing rain is most occasionally caused by an inversion layer, with the warm layer allowing the rain to be preserved in the liquid form, which end up being supercooled along the way to the surface and upon striking the ground turn to ice.

The cold front pushes the warm air upwards during its movement, creating an inversion layer.

Hope this helps. If I'm wrong please correct me.

also, freezing on impact is a sign of SCWD, which is associated with thunderstorms, but not always. the freezing level cannot be above you if u encounter SCWDs. flying through a cold front also does not mean you will encounter SCWDs, especially in the warm sector air. however, i cant imagine which option is the answer.

btw i dont think they use computer aided testing like they would like us to believe..it costs too much to implement

and it is purely heart wrenching soul shattering experience...i mean where from the pits of the underworld did they get thier questions from...i want this question bank...
no indian prof noes compare to the malicious twisted evil in that paper...i have never seen such questions...never ever they are not in oxford...they are not in any seth duggal, surinder, dosjah, gsp, ache tech pilot, jepp , online articles....it is pure evil...it is sinister...its almost like you are expected to be one of those people from chinese matrial arts movies...who can jump 4 stories up fly for 100 feet with a jump kick the ground and make a tunnel so deep that you reach america on the other end of it...rajnikanth would do number 2 in his silk underpants if he saw the paper...

i mean really guys
which one of your commanders who are online could clear that paper
INDIGO really man ...out of all the things in the world .... THAT

anyone who thinks i am exagerating ...please make me meet someone who passed this exam and please tell me what did they study out of????
i mean is just so :ugh::ugh::ugh::ugh::ugh::ugh::ugh::ugh::ugh:
i dont know what to do...
its pathetic...i mean really indigo ...really... lets watch all of your pilots with the same test ....

thanks for your insight AD!
But could you please tell us what was so tough this time, too much Human Factors or too much mathematical qs?
Was the test too long?

Could you please post some questions so that we can analyse it perhaps comment on the relevant material it appeared from. This could also help you.

your input will be appreciated.

and does anyone know how do they select cadidates? I mean do they call top rankers or do we have to get certain percentage to pass.

The exam is not so hard as exaggerated by "awesomedude". The exam can be cracked easily if u study hard enough,:ok: both theory and question banks, just study oxford theory, all the books, u will surely fail:= if you just mug up the questions.

hi
150 were present in the examination in total which happened on the 28th 29th and 30th in which 13 got selected i thought they wuld keep thier 10per rules but failed this time..haha...its a good way of making money frm us unemployed pilots though our parents hard earned money bein spent...and for the beterment of their child which parents will give them money...well indigo knws it all....well the paper says 70 perc is passing but i cant digest the fact that just 13 got abve 70perc out of 150...comeon := if that was true i think they shuld reveil the marks .;).and another thing everyone knws by now that they ask frm oxford and if a person who pays 375 doll will study hard and give his best before giving the exam...well i dnt knw abt ull guys but i wont spend another 375doll scam comin my way....:ok:

i gave the exam... failed...

the thing thts makes me believe tht this is a money making scandal is that:

"IT IS HARD TO DIGEST THE FACT THAT OUTTA 150 PPL WHO HAVE SUCCESSFULLY CLEARED DGCA EXAMS, STUDIED FOR MONTHS TOGETHER (thanks to the jet exam just a month before this) ONLY 13 GET 70 % MARKS"

I mean ok, i failed( even when i was sure of remembering that atleast 70 questions i answered were correct and there was no negative marking and thus more were correct), i dont think the rest 136 pilots who gave the exam were dumb enough not to score 70 % marks...

after giving the exam 2 times now i m sure it is just a money making racket, and all u need in india to get a job is hard cash or some solid hold!!!

cvchetan, did you clear the jet exam?

If you did how different was it from Jet's? Why is it that Indigo's test seems difficult than cracking the MBA-CAT .at this rate I guess getting into the IIMs would be easier!!

Seriously buddy, please give an insight, what topics were in majority- HF? Were there IQ,Aptitude qs like in Jet's? Nav,tech stuff??

Any weird qs that you can remember?

Thanks for your inputs in advance

the QP was basically divided into sections.

abt 5 regs

10-15 basic performance

15-20 hf and crm.

5 abt time

5 abt rel velocities

abt 10 frm met

10-12 from i dunno where

some numericals were there with in sufficient data..

jet exam is very easy... the ask question whose answers can be expected from 250 hr pilots.

Indigo questions cannot be answered even by the most knowledgeable commander of theirs..

jet focuses on mental ability to a much more extent..

indigo is not a selection process.. it is more a elimination process...

QP for indigo is set by indigo is set and corrected by indigo.. CAE are just invigilators of the exam and money collecting agents..

Answer papers i dont believe are computer checked... the way answers are marked cannot be checked by a computer...

@cvchetan and the rest!

I have not appeared for the Indigo test, been waiting for over a year now just for the call.
But!!!

First thing that comes to my mind is, if it was a money making scam, they would certainly want more "customers".

I am not saying it is not a scam, might be, THIS IS INDIA.

I have gone through this and probably a lot of other threads and find different reactions to the test.

Some say the test is tough, but admit of not preparing enough.
Some pass and say they prepared for it.

But the people who dont get through, never ever post a single question here that they found "out of now where", "bull sh***", etc.. etc..

I appeared for the jet test, its been a month now and I can recall at least
10-15 questions that I found difficult. Not boasting of my long term memory here but you naturally spend more time on difficult ones and tend to remember those.

Now if there are 150 ppl appearing every 2 months, and just 10 active on pprune, and 7 failing the test.

We should already have a question bank of those "bogus" questions.
But we have none! In spite of other fellow pilots repeatedly requesting for it.

And @ cvchetan, you failed to answer this from Cloudripper
cvchetan, did you clear the jet exam?
Any weird qs that you can remember?

So please, even if you guys remember 1 question that was tough or which should not be asked to a 250 hr pilot, put it down here..

Alright, I remember two questions that I wasn't able to answer.

1) You are at A(Equator, 59 E or something) you travel on a bearing of 225 for 100 NM, find out the coordinates of the new location.

2) To where is the information from the gyro-synchronized magnetic compass flux gate fed.
a) Heading indicator
b) Error Detector
and some other options.

Would like to know the correct answers, so if somebody knows it, please post it here.

2 of my friends gave the indigo exam in December and they cleared it. Now they are undergoing the type rating training in Madrid.

I don't believe that all the people they select have "influence" over the process. Both my friends worked hard, studied the oxford books(read through the whole thing and understood the concepts), and were successful.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but to accuse the people who studied hard and got through of having some "influence", just because you didn't clear, isn't nice at all.

If you think its a scam don't attempt the paper and waste the money, simple. If you're confident of your knowledge and think you have a chance, go ahead write it, and if your turn has come up, you'll get it.

1) You are at A(Equator, 59 E or something) you travel on a bearing of 225 for 100 NM, find out the coordinates of the new location.

ans)
considering you are at 59E - pt.A;
travelling at 225 for 100Nm, hence an isosceles triangle of 45 degrees, with hypotenuse of 100Nm ,consider base & height equal( say 'a' )
Therefore, sqrt.root(2'a'sqr)= 100Nm
0r 2a=100Nm. hence, a= 50Nm = base

50Nm= 50minutes= .083deg

therefore, if its 59E(A), then new coordinate would be (0deg, 59-.83deg)
=(0deg, 58deg 10min 12sec) --> Ans

if it were 59W(A), Then new pt. coordiante=(0deg, 59deg49min48sec)

LOFT
31st Mar 2011, 09:14
Q 1) since you are travelling on a constant bearing of 225 for 100nm, you are following a RL track... just use the "dep= dlong . cos lat" you will get dlong=01deg 40 mins... therefore your new longitude is 57deg 20min East.

Now for the dlat you get a isoscles triangle as stated by someone above, but your dlat will be found by sin45=dlat/hypotenuse which gives dlat=100*sin45 = 70.71nm .. to get in degrees divide by 60 .. which gives dlat=01 deg 10 mins South..

So your new position is "S 01 10,E 57 20"

Q 2) answer is Error Detector... The flux valve (detector unit) sends information about the Earth’s magnetic field to the selsyn or ‘error detector’ which sends a correction signal to the amplifier.

Kindly read Keith Williams for Instruments ATPL...

it is more of a elimination oriented exam .... you can do it if you know where to study from...which i dont...i studied all of dgca
all gsp
all other surinder....duggal seth etc...
none of them compare to this exam...i dont think its purely atpl level but its not CPL level either it is an exam which most people flying with indigo would have trouble clearing definately ...but thats not the point...point is where to study all this stuff ...the kinda question bank they have...i mean i could clear it if i had just seen those type of questions ,,as well formed and tricky as they are...but its a very well formed test...very tricky ...very nerve wrenching designed to surprise and shock you a bit ...

anyways to the guys who passed where did you study from....what question banks did you use ...cause with the cpl kinda prep one wont get above 50 i had prepared better but i guess it wasnt enough so please tell me what do i need to do over here...cause i really did study and it was quite dissappointing...but i have the will ..but i need to know what to study the regualr cpl stuff +ace tech+ oxford for human performance + google
isnt cutting it..

and oh please remember to thank me for posting these and the ones who gave the test please refine these if you actually remember the actual questions...

To all those who passed..PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE TELL ME...how the     did you do it?From where did you study? Please tell ...

ALSO if anyone knows...are there any indigo specific question banks any jet specific question banks etc i might be able to procure from anyplace...

I did go about the problem in the same method you posted, during the exam, however, the options given for the first question I posted were, Lat : 1 deg 28 S or 1 deg 31 S, and the other two in Northern hemisphere with same values.

Thanks for the answer to the second question, I had a feeling it would be that, I guessed right :).

A few sensible people posting the questions!! How difficult was it?

Newaz,

I knew the logic behind the 1st question, and would have been able to solve it after preparing "so hard for the test"

And the second questions relates to the RIC "remote indicating compass.
