A couple of days old but this Sky News report shows the financial cost of the fire for those that thought their cars were located in a safe car park.

The insurance companies prefer to write off as it is quicker and faster for them and, therefore, cheaper.

As to a 'safe place', I understand your statement but no where is safe. Your car can be parked in a quiet side street and suffer accidental/deliberate damage. A delivery truck can ram it, or it might develop an electrical fault and burn out.

Got to agree, just as safe as anywhere else. Isn't the Long Stay outside CTA £30/day, whereas in CTA it is £67.50/day so you are paying for convenience only.
You could park in the town centre Market or Library car parks for £8/day, but I think you might have other issues than fire risk, parking their for an extended period of time, you might never see your car again.

You mean like this guy
https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/17...-holiday-Spain

A British company director returned from a holiday in Spain only to discover his £105,000 Range Rover was stolen from its parking spot at Luton Airport. Alan Powell, 51, left his Range Rover Sport SVR in the hands of Luton Airport Priority Parking before jetting off to Torrevieja with his family on April 10. He paid £180 for the pleasure but was informed via an app alert the following day that the vehicle was stolen, the Mirror reports.

A quick skeet through the T&C, Airport is not liable and can even subcontract out parking to someone else.
I'm sure a £105k car has not been paid for, taxed or fueled up by the individual so all he had was an inconvenience.

1501 inconveniences then if we include the fire. T&C = Take the money and deny all responsibility.

How would that work? Who's app and how would it know the car had been stolen - or is it just alerting him that it had moved?

Away from car parking issues, this is how the stands will be numbered on the North Apron.

following the fire, what is the procedure for short term passenger pick up parking?

the website doesn’t seem to have been updated to reflect changes post fire

The mid term drop off is now meant to be free for 30 minutes, was 15 minutes. Drivers seem to turn up and wait in the temporary drop off area, no camera on the temporary entrance so no fees when you eventually leave when last checked. The clue is the permanently raised barrier as cars exit via the entrance barrier and the fact that there is no ticket to collect on entry, which is used to work out the fee at Luton.

Requested new slots for a well announced expansion into the UK market, but as Luton no longer appears as a destination in their booking engine they might have fully gone. Time will tell if there is a slot trade for their existing Summer slots.
ACL shows they did ask for W23 slots but all were rejected.

Not directly affecting Luton but what happens if Farnborough don't get their way?
Farnborough
Already a squeeze on heavy Biz Jets as they have limits, gone are the days of seeing 5/6 BBJs/ACJs lined up, much to the pleasure of FBOs at STN.
Do the movements into Gulfstream & Falcon facilities eat into annual movement limits as well?
Perhaps Gulfstream should have left something at Luton, NetJets seem to be happy enough in part of the old MAEL facilities.
Who knows, if T2 gets turned down but pax cap at Luton allowed to say 22/23m with limited T1 upgrade, maybe FBO / Service Centers will come back in favour, I'm sure Harrods would love to move to something new further East.
Would free up more Cargo stand space and the proposed hangers at Prince Way.

A spokesperson said: "Farnborough Airport has recently concluded the public consultation on proposed changes... and is grateful for all feedback received.
Just like Luton this is just double talk for meaning they will ignore the consultation and carry on regardless. Unlike Luton the local council has no financial interest in the airport so will look at the bigger picture and see through the BS rather than write the BS.

Same as Uttlesford District Council then at Stansted or North Somerset Council with Bristol. Look what good that did.
