2 pints of beer now £15, glass of wine £12. Welcome to Luton. If the premium lounges include complimentary drinks then they are a bargain.
Sums up Luton very well. Even a free horrible seat is hard to come by in the departure lounge. Standing room only for many unless you know where to go.
I consider it is a small price for a guaranteed nice seat.
Bristol *locks* doors to all the gate areas when not in active use, so it's almost impossible to sit down anywhere away from the crowded retail area... at least LTN allows people to make use of quiet areas and rewards those with the initiative to seek a better place to pass the time.

LTNman I suggest you book some flights from Stansted, Gatwick & Birmingham then report back on struggling to find seats! I'll think you will find the pleasure days of the 70s/80s, off on your holibobs have well gone.
I hear East Midlands is poor now as well on the departures experience.
Perhaps everywhere should be like Southend- if they stay in business!

Regarding finding a guaranteed seat and some personal space. The issue is about heading down the correct pier before the gate is announced. Best area is the mezzanine floor above the old departure lounge in the old terminal. One hell of a long walk though if the flight departs from the other pier.
The same rule applies to the toilets. I know my favourite ones where I am guaranteed a clean one, as they are hardly ever used.

New W9 A321NEO arrives today direct from Airbus, whether this replaces a CEO or just helps the program stay better resilient we will see.
A second new one has already done it's first test flight ( yesterday) at XFW so won't be far behind.

Just reading about Wizzair being close to setting up another operation in Saudi, based on the Abu Dhabi model, when they start getting 321XLRs, could Luton's runway accept such routes?

The Aspire Lounge at the airport is to be renovated and rebranded under the "MyLounge" brand.
Also the old Club Rooms (which closed during COVID), lounge space in the terminal is to be re-opened and branded as the No1 Lounge, and will be the more premium lounge.
Looks like both lounges will be operated by the same company and just be using different brand names.

This is what happens when LRT has no east west public transport strategy. Everyone will be expected to travel by car.
But the panel of inspectors, known as the Examining Authority (ExA), warned it may not have enough information to form a view about an expanded airport’s impact on Hitchin. Jagjit Riat, a transport planner on behalf of Luton Rising, told the ExA there are three main junctions which would need work to support more passengers.
The 100 Sapphire bus runs from Stevenage via Hitchin to LTN airport. Could this perhaps see larger vehicles and higher frequencies ? Maybe have some buses with fewer stops en route ? Would that solve the problem to a meaningul degree ?

No luggage space for suitcases .Last bus 20:22. Buses every 40 minutes. East extends further than Hitchin.
In the other direction, say buses in the direction of Aylesbury. Nothing beyond Dunstable.

Hitchin has been a god awful place to get through for at least 20 years, with or without the Airport, more the fault of Hertfordshire. I know people who commute from Stevenage to Milton Keynes, madness journey! Everything is London centric.

Very hard for LRT to draw up an east west strategy when they don’t have much much of an input. They of course now hold a public transport license so they could run their own services if they have the faith.
I am old enough to remember when CourtLine operated a coach service not only to London.
