I don't know if my radar needs re-tuning, but is there something substantial and significant on the way from easyjet? The hugely expensive electronic billboards at Stratford and Liverpool St. could equally have been promoting flights from STN or STN & SEN. Yet 'we' seem to be the chosen one. Does anyone know how the relationship is between easyjet and the MAG? Is the Jet2 deal a factor?
I just wonder if the next available Airbus is more likely to end up at SEN than in the north of Essex?

Maybe it isn't EZY paying totally for that advertising. Perhaps Stobart have chipped in too. I am sure there is no love loss between STN management and EZY since Jet2 arrived, and maybe, just maybe, a few more beach destinations will be transferred to SEN. As usual...wait and see.

There were many rumours around Jet2 setting up at SEN; I wonder if pressure from EZY persuaded Stobart not to proceed with this?
That's just my own rumour, but I guess that's the name of this website!

I guess that the new advertising campaign combined with the recent 'optimistic' press release will tie in nicely with the imminent route announcement (hopefully in the next week). However, with EZY having stated a 10% growth for 2017, this means there will not be any additional based aircraft until 2018.
As for STN it will be interesting to see what happens with the introduction of a sizeable Jet2 base, but with FR already having a strong presence there I feel that EZY would be the ones to suffer. Therefore their could be a future opportunity for SEN to steal more routes. However, EZY won't give up their STN pax without a fight first I would imagine. I also share a similar opinion to others that SEN was nothing more than a negotiating tactic for Jet2 to get a better deal at STN.

No I can't see that. That would be a desperate response from an airline that had thrown all its eggs in one (SEN's) basket, and that definitely isn't easyjet. Those boards may well cost more to rent each day than the average net profit from a A319.
Looking back to post 3135, wonder how many UK EZY bases showed decreases to Alicante, Barcelona and Malaga this July??
ALC 9,246, down 1%
BCN 5,224, down 1%
AGP 8,763, down 3%
ALC 9,246, down 1%
BCN 5,224, down 1%
AGP 8,763, down 3%
It would be quite difficult to calculate easyJet's share of the ALC, BCN or AGP markets at most UK airports but all airlines' totals for STN in July were ALC -1% and BCN +1%. This shows that isolated statistics don't, in my view, allow any meaningful wider deductions to be made at any airport.

Tophat27dt - You are spot on as usual. The digital billboard is a collaboration between easyjet and the airport. (It says so on Southend Airport's Twitter feed.)

Also, I don't know how many bus stops are involved, but the bus shelter on Southend's Victoria Avenue by the football ground has an advertising poster showing the routes from the airport. It's well up to date, including Gran Canaria. Next time I pass on foot I'll have a better look and see if it includes the Stobart routes as well as easyJet's.

Re my post above, I have just walked past this bus shelter and the poster is no longer there. This was not a figment of my imagination; all the advertising frames at the bus shelters in the area are empty apart from the NHS flu jab posters. Have no idea what it was all about, perhaps someone had been fly posting but from what I could see when I passed by on the bus a couple of days ago it looked to be a professionally printed poster. As I say, it was there!

SEN Observer I had also seen the bus shelter adverts. They must have been put up prior to the Venice route being dropped as that was still listed on them, and they did include the Stobart/Flybe routes too. Also worth noting that there are Flybe SEN route adverts on all the barriers at c2c stations including London Fenchurch Street (someone correct me if they have been removed now?).

The new airport only lane from the roundabout was finished at the weekend, sadly due to selfish drivers and the stupidity of the road planners (IE not physically seperating the lanes with a kerb or fence) retail park users are trying to use both lanes to get into the retail park!
So that was a waste of time and money.

I guess it will just take time for drivers to adjust to the new road layout. I haven't seen it yet so can't really comment further. From what it was like prior to the roadworks, it definitely needed better signage of what lane to be in.
