And what about the departures before that time? There are pax movements between 10:25 and 21:30. Not that bad.

Interesting couple of lines from the Echo:

"Neil Slaven, the airline’s commercial manager, also revealed flights to a brand new “beach destination” were on the way.

And he said there will soon be two extra flights to both Alicante and Palma each week - and one extra flight each week to Faro, Portugal."

Hopefully we should get some news soon if the new destination is to be on sale for next summer.

You can always rely on LCY diverts to get the numbers up.

At the moment Cityjet WX112 from Dublin is on approach after many trips round the Kent coast waiting to get into LCY

Most days something turns up to boost numbers.

Wait until CityJet introduce their 18 destinations. The queues for the cafes will be long all day......

In the Echo article Neil Slaven says: "We’ve added two new destinations in the last two months, to Charles De Gaulle in Paris and Gran Canaria and they have exceeded our expectations in terms of profit." That at least sounds promising.

If the Cityjet plans proceed as they're suggesting I assume they will introduce the routes over a period of a month or two rather than all at once so we may see any routes that are transferring from LCY to SEN start at the end of March. The other new routes planned would then be phased in through April and perhaps May.

I'm not too worried that the destinations haven't been announced yet but I would like to see at least the first tranch of destinations on sale by the end of this month.

The sale/merger of Stobart Air and Cityjet seems to have gone very quiet recently so it's still a little early to say that Cityjet's SEN plans are yet cast in stone.

The Echo article was simply PR - Neil Slaven wasn't responding to any breaking news or journalistic questioning. But I still found it interesting. It was good to hear a positive spin on the CDG flights - I have wondered whether they were struggling, although that's probably because of a tendency to compare every route to AMS.

I got the impression that EZY are going to spend a little more effort marketing their routes from SEN and I wonder if that may be a sign that EZY believe growth at SEN (however modest in the overall scheme) will be easier to achieve than at STN with all the competition that they're up against there.

City jet aren't the only ones not offering the full summer 17 schedule for sale currently.

Flybe are still to release the vast majority of its schedule.

I won't hold my breath Barking sorry, I just cannot see all 18 routes commencing at once, phased in yes but long queues hmmm! depends on destinations but with the locos just round the corner so to speak I have very great doubts and you will not get the throughput flying to Antwerp , Munster, Groningen etc.

The easyJet announcement attributed to their Commercial Manager. Neil Slaven, is certainly something more than "simply PR". Taken as reported it means that ALC will increase further to 11 x weekly in 2017 compared with 7 x weekly in 2016, PMI 9 x weekly compared with 7 x weekly (for the first time with a PMI-based A320 operting the majority of flights) and FAO 11 x weekly as against 10 x weekly last year. There will also be a new route to replace VCE. The resultant 10% increase in capacity is significant and indicates easyJet's confidence in its SEN base.

I didn't mean 'simply PR' in any negative sense. I'm very glad to see any positive statement from EZY in relation to SEN, and I share your conclusion it shows confidence in SEN.

CAA July stats

The CAA stats for July have at last appeared and pax numbers were 89,504, down 4% on July 2016. The breakdown by route is as follows:

JER 4,631, up 29%
CFR 1,796, up 15%
CDG 4,571 -
RNS 4,384, up 27%
VCE 2,654, down 48% (when did that route finish?)
AMS 16,240, down 7%
GRQ 1,958, down 6%
FAO 12,638, up 1%
ALC 9,246, down 1%
BCN 5,224, down 1%
IBZ 3,681, up 1%
MAH 2,555, up 5%
AGP 8,763, down 3%
PMI 10,167, up 39%

Others unlisted plus diversions account for the remainder.

RNS doesn't seem to have been badly affected by Flybe operating 6 x weekly on LCY-RNS which is perhaps surprising.

Yes, the success of the Rennes route has been impressive. I wonder what the key to that success has been? Has there been more marketing around Rennes than around Caen or Groningen....? Or is it simply down to geography?

Those figures don't look too bad at all. VCE ended in October so that figure seems incredibly low (or a mistake?). Isn't that the highest ever RNS figure? Got competition with Vueling to LGW 3x weekly from 29 November though (year round). PMI also seems impressive.

Looking back at last summer's schedules I think VCE was 4 x weekly but was reduced to 2 x weekly at some point this summer. That would fully account for the drop in pax numbers for July.

That would explain it, I was under the assumption it operated at 4x weekly throughout summer.

"The Best Airport You've Never Heard Of" Easyjet have bought space on a large electronic billboard at Westfield Stratford promoting their flights from SEN. Lot of people going there in the next few weeks. Good stuff!

The London Stock Exchange have announced that Stobart Group have agreed to acquire the remaining 33% of Propius (the company owning the Stobart Air/Aer Lingus Regional aircraft fleet) which was owned by Aer Lingus. This has been financed by the sale of Stobart treasury shares to the value of £15.6m to an institutional investor. The purchase price is $14.7m and this will give Stobart Group 100% ownership of Propius.

The balance between the £15.6m share sale price and the $14.7m will be used to fund restructuring and "for expenditure within Stobart's aviation portfolio." Both Stobart and Cityjet declined to comment on the effect of this on their proposed merger with Stobart saying they were acquiring full ownership of Propius because it is a profitable aircraft leasing company that generates cash.
