New road layout
I agree that some drivers are misusing the lanes at the moment but if you talk about kerbs or other barriers, remember room has to be left for large delivery vehicles to get to the rear of the shops.A totally new airport entrance off Eastwoodbury Crescent would maybe help, but I'm sure the staff car park users wouldn't be too pleased about that!

Let's hope so! This was mentioned around the time of the CityJet announcement, so got overlooked (see my post #3036). Although SEN has the basic shops/cafes, it still scores poorly in the retail section of surveys (such as Which?) where some pax expect more of a shopping centre instead of a departure lounge. However shops cannot survive without customers so this must be in anticipation of more pax next year.

Im beginning to wonder if these, up to 18 new routes and 4 based aircraft starting from April next year is going to happen, December 1st tomorrow and still no announcements. If it does happen they will probably just start with a few routes a month or so later.

As Early As Next Month
Or so Glyn Jones stated in Routesonline on 27th October as he indicted when an announcement could be expected from Cityjet regarding destinations. Time's running out Glyn. Don't be such a tease... we're all waiting!

I suspect the CityJet merger with Stobart Air and the planning of a new SEN base is one of the biggest and most complicated deals WX has ever undertaken. There must be an incredible amount of negotiating, fine details and paperwork to complete, and of course there can be unforeseen delays along the way. Maybe they were a bit premature in announcing the new base, and perhaps could have waited until the merge was completed first.

Yes, if they hadn't completed due diligence before making the announcement then your criticism is fair. On the other hand they do need time to hire and train additional crew and establish all the things that go along with opening a new base.
We should also remember that people plan to go on holiday when it's warm and they won't delay their trip just because an airline's legal docs need longer for review. If seats haven't gone on sale yet, people book elsewhere and revenue is lost. Those flights need to be operating by mid April for the Easter peak and the warmer months or lost revenue can quickly destroy the high season's profitability for an airline
