the cafe' in the check-in hall prob seats 15-20 ppl at the most, its very small, is located to the right hand side, in the corner before the toilets and some of the sales desks are located (the aer lingus end, not the easy/interserve/bmi row) and the odds of sitting down there are slim when its busy, probably best to head up to the cafe in the domestic arrivals hall which now opens around 0400-0500
only issue i see is during winter last year the retail units that were there struggled to do business, once this project is complete there will be 20 units... unless BFS is hoping to attract more routes/airlines it could be interesting 2 see what winter 2010/2011 brings

Were there any special charter flights in either to BHD/BFS last week/this weekend in line with the Milk Cup*?
Or were they all on scheduled carriers? Anybody know of any teams routings in particular?
*World recognised youth football tournament on the North coast of NI. Consists of some of the world's biggest clubs inc. Manchester United and FC Porto. National sides inc. Germany and Israel.
Thanks.

Just noticed today that Jet2 have certain flights on sale for summer 2010 from BFS. Ibiza, Palma, Mahon, Murcia all on sale, however no sign as yet of Pisa, Toulouse and Dubrovnik. Hopefully will appear and some stage soon.
Murcia and Palma up to 6 flights per week.
Ibiza 2 flights per week.
Mahon weekly.

Have heard that we may see an ABX 767 taking over from the TNT.
The place is really starting to shape up, the new central search is a much better experience, when the whole lot is finished it will make the landside / airside experience a lot better for everyone

the area that the viewing gallery is in is sealed off at the minute (cant be accessed airside) not sure if you can get their via domestic arrivals but since its only a plastic panel thats stopping you from going down the steps from the airside area (old central search) im guessing its sealed from the arrivals hall as well

No 28 day warning for Aviance at BHD.
Was threatened by FlyBE due to poor performance and staffing levels on Saturday, though as far as I know was just a threat. Not sure of the whole in's and out's, but as far as I know, few things got a bit messy and staffing levels didn't allow for efficient rectification.

BBC NEWS | UK | Northern Ireland | Civil Service to fly Aer Lingus
Strange article, I thought that one chose a route, airport, carrier depending on circumstances etc. Does this mean that a civil servant travelling to London has to use EI? Was it with BD until now?. Possible 4th daily to LHR as a result.

Good news for EI and BFS, although I wonder how hard this will hit bmi?? Was well known that the Belfast - Heathrow route was very lucrative for bmi, and with 8 flights a day I wonder will this in itself warrant a reduction in frequency. I believe bmi didn't alter frequency, even after EI commenced Heathrow from BFS, so maybe now a reason to reassess capacity.

thats great news for BFS and EI and Menzies...
the route would have to be operated by another aircraft though, as their current set-up for winter (1 a/c does LHR runs all day, the other does the sun destinations) unless it comes in at 2040 and goes back out, nightstopping around 2245?

Wouldn't get too excited by this. With the devolution of many powers to Stormont and the advent of teleconferencing the number of civil servants travelling between Belfast and London has reduced considerably over the past couple of years. There certainly wouldn't be enough now to justify adding a further rotation.

I am thrilled for Aer Lingus; this really underpins the base and as far as I can see means Aer Lingus is here to stay. I really feel that the brand has been received well and lately the feedback that I am getting is that people will go back and use Aer Lingus again.
Many people that I have spoken to have commented on excellent service and civilised boarding process!

Last sentence on the BBC news article mentions a 4th possible daily rotation
the 2 year contract is worth £1m, and if EI provide a good service, im sure they will gain a contract renewal
