well i see hilary clintons plane left today, looked like the C-32... presidental colours...

also the an-12 was back today with a 5hour stop, seems like it will be a regular guest now... it now has to be pushed back off stand 25... dont know if this is because operations doesnt want to have to move the chock cages on 25 all the time...

smoke from somewhere blew over BFS and caused a bit of trouble tonight it triggered smoke detectors near the jet2 engineers offices.. no evaculations

taxy way charlie has been closed on 2 occasions in the last 2 days which has led to delays as aircraft have to hold then backtrack up 07 and exit via bravo

BCA Runway

A wee bit misty down here today!!
JUst wondering if ......WHEN BCA get the extra few meters on the runway will they get a cat3 ILS as well or will they just keep it the way it is?
Would it be of any use?
It cant be long now until they say yes or no
Does anybody know when the other 2 runways there were put out of use??

As the current service seems to operate four times a day, does this mean that the new service will only move half of their flights to BHD?

This would leave the rather undesirable scenario of flying out from one airport, only to return to a different one 20 miles away from your parked car!

The new flights seem to operate with a LTN based aircraf, the first flight departing LTN at 0700. Perhaps it is part of the plan to cut 20% of the LTN flights. Does seem a bit dramatic though, as this would be a 50% reduction.

From the way the article reads, sounds like Easyjet are pulling the route entirely from BFS and having twice a day from BHD instead.

Wonder will this cause retaliation from FR, with EZY moving into BHD to try get back some of "their" London traffic.

Reading the press info it is clear that the LTN service is ceasing at BFS and transferring to the city on a reduced frequency. Excellent. The statement says it is the 'first' route by EJ from city, lets hope there are many more and soon. We need that runway extension and a slightly longer operating day now, to cater for the airlines that obviously want to be at the better located airport.

Well done to the city team for all the hard work in securing this one.

Sarcon,

Why is securing a reduced service for Belfast excellent?

I have no particular preference for either airport, but losing several flights a day is surely to be regretted, is it not?

sarcon, BHD would not have had to do a lot of work to attract EZY at the minute, the amount of complaints that have been fired at BFS over the recent construction on the apron with the maze of red and white bollards that PAX get lost in, along with the lack of boarding areas for certain stands... its just asking for it

BFS-LTN had 4 scheduled flights on the busy days, 3 on the rest and 2 on Saturdays, so thats basically a 50% cut in flights if it goes to 2 daily..

Ryanair wont he happy, expect price cuts or a massive sale from them ... i wonder if they will now throw a non-domestic route over to BFS

good news for the city airport, but bad news for EZY and those who use the LTN service as no doubt there wont be an early morning departure now (07:00 ish) and a reduced selection of times

here we go, heres the pathetic depature times useless for business customers...

Dep - 08:40
Arr - 09:50

Dep - 19:55
Arr - 21:05

my question is who will handle them? surely it wont be aviance after their performance at BFS when they were on the EZY contract, will we see Menzies venture out from cargo?

Could we see ryan start BHD-LTN, especially in view of the capacity reduction on the LTN route ?

Far as i know it will be Aviance, been in touch with Aviance staff at BHD this morning, and that's what they've been told also.

As mentioned before, so long as the services that are shared between airports don't disadvantage the NI traveller. If you leave the car at BFS (or BHD for that matter), you pretty much need to fly back to that airport. So like FR introducing Bristol and then EZY reducing to X2 from BFS, actually restricts options in my opinion rather than creating them.

The rumour also from BHD was that airport management wanted another airline to have their foot in the door. Should the runway extension be declined and FR to pull out, wanted another airline to be able to take up the spare capacity, should that happen. All rumours and stories I guess at the minute, with this news.

lets hope aviance can keep it together then, as i know their operation at BHD was a mess earlier this year

with the reduction of flights from BFS (the aircraft that operates this route was a nightstopper) are we going to see a route replace the LTN one? are we going to see increases on other routes or a new one... or worse, a reduction to 4 base aircraft if its a reduction then that leaves the potential for job losses at EZY + Menzies

you are about to see the destruction of a profitable route into loss maker with removal of airframes and establishment in BFS all to fuel easyjets pathetic spat with the owners of LTN. The route will be crewed from Luton to ensure there are no stands free there for competitors to move in

Can't see RYR being allowed any services into BFS, the management have turned them down already in the past their custom appears to be unwelcome in BFS as it was in Manchester
