fire alarm at BFS today in the international pier... PAX evacuated and then allowed back in 20 minutes later... no idea if it was a false alarm or if something actually happened

clearly yes.. when i meant if something happened i wasnt referring to a fire, but more towards a faulty sensor, pax smoking, kitchen equipment overheating etc... its the second alarm in the international pier in the last 2 months

unfortunately for EZY it delayed a couple of flights that were already running behind

edit - airports website now shows correct formatting in firefox

PAX from LDY to Reus this afternoon were transferred to a thomson a/c at BFS. TOM 1X landed some 6 hours late this evening at LDY approx 20.00 local. TOM 9036 was that a/c returning to aldergrove to replace the one that had been used earlier in the day at BFS

From the Easyjet thread, most EZY flights up to end of June 2010 from BFS are now on sale. All destinations still there, fingers crossed for a couple of new ones maybe!!!

Are the routes usually on sale this early? Or are easyJet trying to firm up capital?

always thought EZY put their routes for sale up 6 months before the schedule, however this is now 11 months (closer to 10), while its not finalised as theres still some destinations (EDI, GLA and STN... possibly more) which are only for sale until March 2010

probably trying to grab as many customers as possible, id watch out for other airlines at BFS/BHD following the same trend

With the low cost airlines now directly competing with the tour operators for business on the sun route, maybe they feel they need to put flights on sale this early to actively compete and gain the business.

The release of the tour operators brochures seem to get earlier and earlier every year, so with summer 2010 Thomson and Thomas Cook etc on sale from BFS and other the UK airports, this could be the reaction of EZY, to get the business of those who plan their holidays early.

Like the tour operators i guess these flights could be subject to change.

Relocation of security search area – Advice to passengers

Published: 24 July 2009
From Tuesday 28th July 2009 the central security search area will move from its current location to the top of the moving walkway.
Passengers should follow the signs to security immediately after checking in. Catering and retail outlets are available beyond the security search area. (airside)

Facilities for those who are not travelling are available landside: Café Ritazza in the check in hall and WHSmith and the Cafe bar available in Arrivals. The Airport information desk, currency exchange and ATM's are also available landside.
Staff will be on hand to assist passengers during the first few days of this relocation.

Passengers are also advised that there is no change to current security regulations and it is important that people realise that the hand baggage regulations can vary from airline to airline and passengers should check with their airline for specific hand baggage allowances.

also a news story on easyJet putting flights up for sale earlier

http://www.travelmole.com/stories/1137524.php

EasyJet releases seats earlier
EasyJet is changing the way in which it releases its seats for the coming seasons, making it possible to book earlier.

The airline today released its schedules for Spring 2010 from its bases across the UK regions, which means it is now possible to book flights from Belfast, Bristol, East Midlands, Liverpool and Newcastle up to the end of June 2010.

Flights from London and Scotland will go on sale within the next few weeks.

Seats for Summer 2010 are expected to go on sale next month.

Previously the airline launched its schedules in two six month blocks, winter and summer timetables.

It says the new process will enable passengers to better plan ahead and take advantage for the airline’s fantastic lowest fares.
must say i like the idea, i wonder will they annouce new routes when the seats go on sale, or will they wait until its closer to the time?

new central search is now opened must say im impressed, its nice and bright, less cramped (new area is probably 4 or 5 times the size of the old area, currently only operating 3 channels.... duty free will now move into the old central search area so that you have to walk through it and a restaurant/cafe will go into the old duty free which shall have windows looking onto the airfield

Sounds good. Hopefully it'll be a vast improvement, and not to get too carried away, but imagine if it was the beginning of an airport Northern Ireland could be proud off... Well we can always dream...

Any improvements are a step in the right direction. Cafe Ritazza in the check-in hall, where abouts??? Is there much seating???
