Spoke with a friend of mine who is an EI crew member in ORK and she says there's no truth to this story. There are crews from SNN and DUB that will be supplementing their schedule while they have their annual leave which is mostly taken during the winter schedule and which Aer Lingus are obliged to give their staff. So thankfully there's nothing sinister and it's EI using their surplus crew in other bases when another base is short staffed for whatever reason. There has been a number of crew leaving all bases in recent times so a number of crew I'm sure have left ORK too. Will EI be recruiting CCM's in the near future does anyone think?
Oh yeah and my pal also says that they are not on a permanent standby for 4 months and they are paid even when on standby. KAVS8 sorry to say this but you were fed a load of porkies by someone.

no i wasent, 19 left yesterday which is true with unpaid leave. An where you heard a SNN crew covering routes is not true at all as the crew dropped yesterday will now all be put on standby and sure youre right some will be talking some of their holidays during that time obiously after working all summer long. Anyway - Ryan2000 any word on that new airline and longest route ever?
Also appoligies 19 people from a crew have been let go so i guess no crews have been let go except for 19 of one of the ORK crews for the winter period.

Just to back to Clune, she said "airbridges" ... have Cork Airport been hiding a second ?
It's one of the things that infuriates me that the airport has been designed with airbridges in mind and not only is there just one airbridge, but there is a charge for it. It's like something from Monty Python.....

I wouldn't hold that against her. Most people in the city are unable to distinguish between the piers for connecting an airbridge and an airbridge itself. At least she's speaking up about it. More than the others are doing. I've always been disappointed that Brian Crowley - as a disabled user of the airport - hasn't had more to say on the issue.

That is curious all right. Back in the days of the old terminal there was a certain Mercedes with a blue badge parked so close to the vip entrance on a regular basis it always made guffaw away to myself.
I wonder how much was ever taken in car parking charges from that certain Mercedes?
Very interesting all right.

Aerlingus told the DAA that they would not use airbridges at Cork before they were due to be installed. I can't see any more being added unless they change their mind. Only charter carriers wish to use them and there are few enough of those since EI and FR moved onto the Sun routes.

To move on from the bizarre and the grotesque I feel the moderators will allow us this once to digress down a different path so it may be of interest to some that tomorrow all four of the Emc bizjets are expected to be parked up at Cork around lunchtime. This fleet includes a Gulfstream, a Challenger of the CL6 series and two Challenger 300s. Should make a nice looking line up for a few photos.
