British European did open an ABZLCY route at the time where it thought the future was LCY! The route launched thrice daily with a 146 but quickly dropped back in the end to a Dash 8 Q200, at which point you were looking at about a 2hr 15min block time.
The route died (and I stand to be corrected) but I think it was resurrected for a short time by Scot Airways D328's although they too pulled the route after a short period.

BA Looking at E-Jet Again
I see in the press that BA are looking (again) at Embraer 170 / 190 as an option to replace their RJ100s. What is the status of these aircraft at LCY? I know Embraer 170 has completed flight trials and is certificated for LCY. But how about Embraer 190? I believe Lufthansa get the aircraft early next year and presumably it will be ready for LCY by then but have any flight trials been completed (at LCY) yet? And if so what kind of range will the aircraft be able to achieve with a full passenger load? Have already had a bit of a dig around in the usual places but can't see any of this detail there so any comments welcomed.

Interesting to see that legacy carriers that have retreated from serving certain places from LHR are now making a return by serving LCY. In addition to DUB by BACF, TXL comes to mind by Lufthansa. How is this route, by the way, doing, given the long list of failed LCY-BER services in the past?

What is the reasin of these AF/KL/VG slots going to BA? Unless an airline voluntarily surrenders slots, I do not see a basis why they could not use these slots for other routes, either for opening new ones or increasing frequencies on existing routes.
About how many slots are we talking, by the way? The only route duplication I can think of is LCY-AMS, and I guess KL will cut but about 4 of their existing 6 or seven flights.

Not sure how this should work. Slots only become available once they are returned to the slot pool, AF will avoid returnin slots to the slot pool like the pest. I don't think that any airport operator can do anything against an airline using a slot they hold for whatever service they wish to operate (unless it is a slot for a PSO route). that said, I am pretty sure KLM will use slots to the new route to EIN by some re-shuffling of slots already held.

Surely it's the availibilty of stands which governs slot availibilty at LCY. Increase the number of stands and you've created additional slots, subject to the max movements in the planning consent.

Yes, but AF/KL already have the slots we are talking about and thus also the stands. How can the airport stop KL/AF from using the slot/stand in question for letting a Fokker 50 fly to, say, XYZ instead of AMS?

BA does not have dedicated stands, nor is BA going to be dedicated stands in the future. If stands are to be dedicated, it will be all airlines. How can an airport of LCYs size, dedicate stands anyway?
Slots are not being given to solely BACF. Airlines are increasing their routes and number of rotations.
Slots which are not needed will be sold to another airline.
The morning and evenings look pretty full looking at the schedule. So im sure more and more slots are going to be sold in the middle. 10:00 - 1700.
Slots aren’t just on the number of stands city could have 50 stands but where are these planes going to land and depart? Currently its 1 in 1 out at City.

That's why I had doubts about the whole thing. Would be nice though but for an airport like LCY it's pointless towards their capacity planning. I would be happy with it... Any more BACF news/rumors floating around apart from DUB?

operationsair - aren't the new stands due to open on 5 May capable of 170/190 (and A318) parking? And even without parking, my original question stands - does anyone know of 170 and / or 190 flight trials at LCY? If yes, when?
