NYC
I know this is on another thread but what do the regular LCY contributers think of BA's announced service to NYC? I dont have business there so wont get to use it but seems a good idea to me.

Associated Newspaper’s Evening Standard has brokered a deal to become the exclusive media partner of London City Airport that will see the weekday newspaper distributed for free to all incoming passengers.

Presumably nothing for the morning rush hour passengers as the Evening Standard isn't out until 11 am. Ah well, they can always give them the leftovers from the previous day. There's not a lot of difference in the content. I assume any fee the airport could charge the newspaper for this exclusivity will be taken in LCY advertising slots in the paper.

Silverjet was never going to be a problem to BA from LCY. Silverjet is/was serving business passengers who want a great service at a cheaper price.
BA is going to target the F class passengers who work (I'm guessing) on the markets and in the big banks where they can spend £10000 on a lunch (heard about that story?!...anyway...thats a different story) without even flinching.
I think we will all be amazed at the service. I don't know what seats they are to put inside but if they are new I would think they would give SQ a run for their money on service!
Can't wait to see the aircraft interiors, and when I win the lottery I will hopefully onboard one day!
Personally I think it is a superb idea by the airline and I think it is impossible for it to fail - aslong as the stop in SNN is short and easy for the passengers. Can't belive nobodty thought of it earlier! (If they did I sincerely apologise!)

Bacf Dub Starts Today!!
BACF start there LCY/DUB route today and the flight is being sold as operated by Flightline for BACF. Does anyone know which a/c they are using??. Since it looks like a long term thing is the a/c to be painted in BA colours?? Anyone know the reg used?
girt big un said that there will be a second flightline a/c based in EDI. However just spoken to mate who is a captain based in EDI and he says that the second RJ85 (G-LCYC) will be ready for the introduction of the Additional EDI and NCE services in september. So only one flightline a/c will be used.
The a/c will operate EDI/LCY/EDI/LCY/NCE/LCY/EDI.

Not for the first time ! Wonder how many more are under the mud.
We live about 1 mile north of the runway, and digging in the garden I found a few years ago a machine-gun bullet which a knowledgeable colleague identified was from a WW2 aircraft machine gun.

We got the Blitz in the West Coast of Scotland as well (I'm from Greenock, heavy engineering), so I know what it's like ... but most of our engineering shut so long ago they found all the bombs - I guess it's only recently that much of London's East End has been redeveloped!
Interestingly some flights are showing late rather than cancelled (on BA.com) so maybe it's not as bad as feared - when my travel admin emailed to tell me it sounded like it could be shut for days rather than hours

LCY now re-opened
My flight to Dublin was cancelled.
They said the bomb was actually at Stratford where they are excavating for the Olympic site. They have put an air exclusion zone around the bomb.
Although it is some miles from the airport the SID [Standard Instrument Departure] route flies right over it.
Well thats what they told me anyways.
Loads of flights cancelled.
Staff seem to be coping well
Bloody Luftwaffe!!

But even if it was closed, was it beyong the wit of all to do a non-standard departure turning left out of LCY. What happens when there is a thunderstorm over Stratford ?

quote - I find this difficult to accept. Outbound aircraft from LCY do indeed normally pass over Stratford at 3,000 feet (which seems way beyond any connection with the round) but then inbound Heathrows pass over them at 4,000 feet and they seem to have been unaffected.

yes I was thinking the same, why not just vector the a/c around the exclusion zone. Also werent they on 10 at the time? the 10 departure doesnt go even over the area ?? I dont think so away Saying that If the discovery was made near to rush hour it would have caused chaos with all the movements

Announcements at LCY?
I've been following the thread with interest, and also admire the new, expanded LCY facilities. However, my last time out of there I nearly missed my flight as, despite being in the departure lounge 45 mins before the flight, I am convinced it was never called - not even in a heavy Frrrrench accent! - and was grateful to be allowed into the gate once they'd shut the door and had all but me and 2 other pax already onboard. Are they really still doing ALL announcements?

Unfortunately SP passengers leave their brain at checkin and stop behaving like NORMAL people....... Or is that normal? mmmm
How many times these days do we hear, 'This is the LAST call for passenger ****, please make your way to gate ** where the flight is now closing'.
