Depends. The routes are new, the news is old as it was reported in this thread back in November:

VLM is to scrap the BAe 146 flights on the RTM route at the end of the month, giving high operational costs of the type as the explanation. Instead, it will up the frequency on the route to 10x daily Fokker 50 flights for the summer schedule.

Apparently BA have knocked the Milan service on the head at short notice, being discontinued at the end of next week.
Seems to show as ever that morning/evening works well at London City, single midday flights do not.

I think the time has now come for VLM to start looking more actively at replacements for the 146 and F50. Q400's would probably be better suited to them with increased capacity and speed over the F50.
I think SAS may have a few floating around

Since VLM will soon disappear into KLM, I'd be surprised if that were to happen with the Q400. I suspect a new order to replace the Cityhopper fleet will be enlarged.

Fog / Fire Cat
I just wondered what forumers thoughts were on the foggy skies. They have really have taken there toll on LCY over the last couple of weeks, with so many cancelations, diverts and endless aircraft going around, holding having another go etc, I wonder just how much money has been lost.... I assume due to LCY,s location, steep approach and short runway a so call Autoland is not possible, is there a solution...
Also I hear pilots talking about different fire categories and needing cat 5, does an airport say Southend or Biggin have a continous fire categorie or does it depend on the time of day and what fire crew/equipment they have available?? My reason is that Often when it is foggy at LCY, Biggin being at an elevation of 500ft is often clear and vice versa and would seem a perfect divertion airport that is not too far away for the pax to be bused in

vlm 146
G-BPNT is finishing its last pax contract with VLM and indeed its long term lease to flightline on 29th FEB 2008 ..
Its will be a sad day for flightline as its flagship it now off to romania to have a hole cut in its side and start a new life as a freighter.
over the years 'November Tango' has operated in many high profile roles and has carried many of the worlds top football teams , film stars and pop stars, and has also operated for most of the top airlines in europe.
the VLM contract was a great contract and i am sure you are not going to see the last of the 146 /rj in the VLM fleet .

Fog / Fire Cat
I don't know about Biggin, but Southend can upgrade their fire category to Cat 6 with a maximum of one hour's notice so, in effect, can always offer this for LCY diversions. Yesterday they were providing Cat 6 all day in anticipation of the dozen or so diversions they received.
I would have thought that Biggin might have a problem processing the numbers of pax involved, but other than that they should be a suitable alternate - certainly for LCY bizjet diversions.

I noticed in the press that LCY has become a UK Superbrand 500 for the first time in history, making it to rank 415.
Also in the press: Lufthansa introducing a personal assistant service for First Class and HON circle member at LCY and LHR. While I see the point of offering such a service at LHR, I am not really sure how it could be useful at LCY.

The EIN-LHR flights of KLM (cityhopper) will be moved to LCY at the 31st of march. The slots at LHR will be used by NW.
However the twice daily(on weekdays) EIN-LCY flights won't be operated by KLM but by Cityjet. They will wetlease a D328 from Scot Airways for this flight and will fly it with their own metal (RJ85) after a few months.

BA on London City Dublin
This may have been mentioned here already here , but BA are to start Dublin to London city x 3 per day in the summer season.
Info from Irish air letter!
Interesting list of airlines have come and gone to this route.
Flybe in the guise of British European as then was called
Virgin Atlantic Cityjet .. survived by AF Cityjet
Aer Lingus
and now BA who own 15% of Flybe!!!
Happy days . will we see some discounts at any time or what happens on existing routes with competition from London city airport?

ATR is actively pitching the new ATR72-600 as an aircraft that "can operate profitably on London City airport":
http://www.atraircraft.com/public/at...=814&pid=43204
Was there never any interest to get the ATR72-500 or ATR72-212 certified for LCY? It has been used elsewhere at airports with rather short runways.

BA flying DUB-LCY has never been announced and sounds unlikely I think. Still it is the former BACX mob running this so anything is possible (!).
Anyone know what the new parking stands will be numbered as btw? 0, -1,-2 would be logically correct but confusing....

Just for the record - as per the ABZ thread, slots appear to have been scheduled for a twice daily ABZ service by VLM. Aircraft designated is a BAe 146-200. Not sure if this means "VLM by Cityjet" or a lease by VLM from a third party like the Flightline BAe 146-300 operated until recently on the RTM route.
Has there ever been an ABZ route from LCY? I seem to recall that the route was on the cards during British European's brief spell at LCY, but did it ever take-off?
