Fog / Fire Cat

I just wondered what forumers thoughts were on the foggy skies. They have really have taken there toll on LCY over the last couple of weeks, with so many cancelations, diverts and endless aircraft going around, holding having another go etc, I wonder just how much money has been lost.... I assume due to LCY,s location, steep approach and short runway a so call Autoland is not possible, is there a solution...

Also I hear pilots talking about different fire categories and needing cat 5, does an airport say Southend or Biggin have a continous fire categorie or does it depend on the time of day and what fire crew/equipment they have available?? My reason is that Often when it is foggy at LCY, Biggin being at an elevation of 500ft is often clear and vice versa and would seem a perfect divertion airport that is not too far away for the pax to be bused in
