the VLM contract was a great contract and i am sure you are not going to see the last of the 146 /rj in the VLM fleet .
With a quadrapuff burning close to 2.5 times what a F50 does in fuel, there must be sufficient 'bums on seats' to make a 146/RJ work. With the 'average' pax figures on the RTM-LCY route, I wonder just how cost effective VLMs introduction to jet operations actually was? With the current trend in the price of oil, perhaps VLM might be more cautious before they embark into Jet ops again since a 'busy' route on the F50 is still in general terms a light load on a 146/RJ with higher overheads to contend with as well! However a bit of schedule consolidation on some of their routes could justify the need for a jet and could free slots for other destinations in the future!
