From todays Telegraph.
Staff at London City airport will go into work today unsure whether they will be employed by the same owners when they head home.
London City is one of the many businesses owned by AIG, the US financial conglomerate thought to be close to collapse last night as the credit crisis threatened to take its latest scalp.
Bankers and politicians warned yesterday that the collapse of Lehman Brothers would be of small concern compared with that of AIG, and the US Federal Reserve was last night coming under growing pressure to save the ailing insurance group.
The future of London City - which AIG, GE and Credit Suisse bought for £750m in 2006 - will be well down the Fed's priority list when deciding whether, as some analysts have suggested, AIG is "too big to fail".

It is simply survival of the fittest. CityJet have lost the ZRH battle and they are simply wanting to limit the success that BACF will have on their long standing EDI route in addition to the new GVA route that BACF will start. Will be interesting!

Could BACF's success be something to do with it's big brother? Frequent flyer miles are like ectasy for a businessman who spend more time in the air than on the ground.
BA is likely to have more frequent flyers in London than AF/KL/CityJet and maybe when working in the city and a flight to the tax haven is needed, their miles come in handy?

So what's the deal with our (BACF) new GVA/LYS winter flights from LCY? Are they purely winter flights or are we competing directly with Swiss on a schedueled GVA? Cause I thought we stopped doing charter flights to minumuse the (operational) impact on our regular operation?
Is there any more info known? (my guess is twice a week during weekends?)
Any other route rumors floating about?
Cheers,

Was kinda hoping we would be going to Scandinavia but who knows...

The winter flights to LYS are extra capacity on the two peak days to complement the LHR service.
The GVA will be winter only and is to complement the LHR and LGW flights. GVA is one of BA's top performing winter routes.
The addition of the LCY flights will see BA operate atleast 86 flights a week between London and Geneva this winter.
Will be interesting to see how popular they are.

Found some more info on A.net here.
Monday's slot is the BCN which will operate 5 x weekly instead of 6 and Thu and Fri is the
Early NCE flights slot which will mean NCE will operate 10 x weekly instead of 12.
Monday flight depart LCY at 09:15 and lands back at LCY at 14:25
Thursday and Friday flight departs LCY at 10:50 and lands back at LCY at at 15:35
Sunday flight departs LCY at 12:30 and lands back at LCY at 16:35
Leeds me to think there are zero slots available for BACF @ LCY and sacrifices have to be made to get these destinations up-and running.
I wasn't expecting we'd be trading NCE slots in cause they seem to be doing well.

Yeah NCE has done very well but it is a more summer destanation. So trading the slots makes perfect sence to me.
Infact wouldn't be suprised if the flights to GVA and LYS sell well especially for the school holidays from 20th December to 3rd January that we don't see BACF only operating the late NCE M-F and extra GVA and LYS flights taking there place.

BA to New York
When I try to book on BA website from LCY to New York it displays a pop up window saying they don't fly from LCY to New York. Am I missing something? Did they pull it?

I believe it is earmarked for Winter 2009 so time will tell. Should be a good niche when things settle down again. Contrary to reports in the media, the City is still hiring....
