The Liverpool flight is full or almost full all the time so I don't think it's because of the loads.

I think Ryanair can use the aircraft more efficiently during the summer season with extra rotations to some of the favourite holiday destinations (Palma, Reus and Limoges) being given priority over ABZ.

I have used the LPL flight frequently for the last few months and loads do vary with the weekend being the busiest with stag and hen nights being a fairly common sight! The new schedule will only have flights on a Mon, Tues and Wed so the peak of the week during the weekend will have no flights. Midweek loads do vary but I have seen the aircraft less than half full on some days during the week... I would expect this to get worse if the flights are less frequent. It is common to have a few rows of seats blocked off at the front and back for what I presume is for weight and balance reasons with the whole plane being available only if it is busy. The latter does not happen often!

There are a fair number of 'regular' faces on the LPL flight that are connected to the oil and gas industry who obviously use the route to commute to and from work and the new timetable will probably not be much use to them.

I can see this route being canned when the winter schedule kicks in. the Inverness link from LPL is getting the same treatment as well so that will probably go as well!

With flybe not continuing the MAN route there is a lack of capacity to the Manchester/Liverpool area and the bmi loads are proof of this!

If RYR went somewhere decent like Stansted,to connect with the rest of their network,it would be full.

I think the slots are a problem at STN, well until they get a new runway.
What they could do is take away one of the PIK's and give it to ABZ.
Or the BLK is ending soon.

First City Star BGO starts today, with the early morning departure so coveted by businesses, allegedly.

Will be interesting (well, in ABZ terms!) to see what, if anything, Wideroe do in response- eg. launch an early morning departure of their own.

Why feel the need to take one off PIK? If Aberdeen is such a goldmine the the 100s of B737-800s Ryanair have on order might be wingin their way to you. Perhaps there aren't enough people keen to fly to Scouse land? I mean why would you......?

I can't believe that anybody really cares! I'm not sure why I read this, maybe I'm secretly hoping I will read a rumour of a flight to Salzburg for a tenner, or a charter to the Maldives! Is anybody really interested if theres another Dornier flying to somewhere in Norway, or a Jetsream to Biggin Hill...

Sorry, I'll leave you to it! I feel better after my little rant too

Jetsream to Biggin Hill
LOL! Did you mean JXT to BLK? That service starts on Monday. Outbound looks good, but inbound not so.

Not even DIRECT, it's via SVG: ABZ-SVG-AES.

Which means either KSU is about to be dropped, or will be served via BGO.

Decisions, decisions!

Multiple stand holds the other day.One AFR gets delayed because of bad wx at Paris, and the whole of the cottage industry airport starts grinding to a halt.17% forecast heli increase for this year, and they have to do training in Dundee,or Inverness. That never gets mentioned here, but then BAA don't know what a heli is.look out the window, there's plenty around.
Will someone give Nats a slap cos they want to cut costs to beyond the bone, and BAA as they have no idea how to run an airport.Want a concrete mixer.Fck wits.

But that's part of what makes it such a unique and interesting place to work at! Let's face it TAD, you really wouldn't like to work anywhere else, would you?

Mickey Mouse

Came in on the late KLM last night which parked a couple of stands to the right (nose in) of its usual, to be greeted with the news that because of easyJet passengers (delayed I assume) being in the way that we would have to be bussed to the terminal... but as there is only one bus at Aberdeen it would take 5 trips... well after a quick (30 second) circuit of the easy aircraft we were dropped at the walkway to International arrivals, you can imagine the comments from people on the bus with a very defensive driver muttering about security considerations...

Helicopter operators

Anyone help me please.
I've not been to ABZ for many years when it was Bristows, British Airways (with the Chinooks - yes that long ago!), BCAL, and I can't recall if it was north Scottish or Bond at the time.

Thinking of a trip up to my old stamping ground.

Who are the current helicopter operators supporting the oil industry?

LetMfly,
You might have been correct many years ago,but not now.I show no interest in the place,in return for what Nats have done over the years. You can't FK people over time and time again without payback.Well I have Fk all interest for my treatment and it shows. If you're still keen then good for you.I work exacting to what I'm paid, exactly to the rules and hold the record for holding a training heli at Brimmond. In fact you want to see me get a new record.
