Always find CLUBS bit too cliquey for my liking!
As posted by Webby on GSM thread, first flights released show BCN to be 2x weekly & likewise AGP.
(That's BCN=Barcelona & AGP=Malaga to you, GAW!!)

The great SVG bunfight continues apace.
Was having a gander at the SAS website, I think I am seeing a further WF SVGABZSVG flight, arriving 2035 for winter 07? Can anyone confirm?
City Star 4th D0328 arrived last night, TF-CSD.
Bond applying for expansion of facilities, main thing being a another hangar.
T3 own SVG run started this week.

bmi R
Dunno why they chose Kristiansand over Stavanger or Bergen but I hope it's working out for them. Don't want to see them fail on this route as well, having pulled out of BRU then AMS at end of month.
I would be interested to see if they fancy a go at BGO, or OSL, the latter only having one airline (X9) flying on it presently.
EDIT: anyone have any thoughts as to where bmi R might look in future to expand ABZ ops? International or domestic?

No knowledge of bmi R plans whatsoever but that could potentially be a route for someone....

ABZ-Sweden? aaahh....1983 Gothenburg airlift - Danair, Britannia, Orion, SAS, Sterling...1-11, DC-8, SE210 Caravelle, B727, I'll ignore the B737s, they were boring!
Erm, back to present day!
Was some talk that SAS were looking at this possibility, but not sure how substantive the rumours were.
You may recall SAS low-cost Snowflake tried a ARN-INV route but used IIRC a MD80, way too big for the route & it was dropped pretty pronto.
A business route to ABZ? Maybe, but then again it was thought there was demand for BRU.
Anyone think someone else might try for BRU?

Gothenburg 1983,
Ah i was just a boy controller then.We couldn't ignore the 737's as they had punters on them.Well football supporters but they still weren't expendable.
I know I've said it before, but Stansted would be a good choice to link into the lost cost network out of there. As for 4 perhaps 5 services to Stavanger, wouldn't it be better if one did it with a 757/A321 or something.Seems like someone will have to pull out of that route now that Eastern have started.

If your business philosophy on the Stavanger route is just put everybody on one A320, why dont BA just put a 747 on the Heathrow route and fly once a day, and Maybe Eastern put on a 777 and do drop offs all down the coast to Newcastle and Humberside

Well in some parts of the world 747's and 777 are used for short haul.Trouble is you couldn't park any of these 2 types at Aberdeen.Well not easily.I just think that 4 different operators flying at similar times of the day is a waste of resources, and cannot be sustained. It doesn't make sense to have all these operators, when one larger plane would do.Oh and you can park a 757,A321 easily.I don't think Eastern are going to start a price war on that route. Not exactly Ryanair are they.

Stewartflyer: Trust you are enjoying the Dornier-flying How's the Oslo route doing, given that Stavanger looks OK? Any further expansion on horizon, or is that it for now with the commencement of Alesund?
Wellington Bomber: Have T3 any more plans for ABZ with the imminent delivery of their 2 more Saabs & recent commencement of Stavanger? New routes home &/or abroad & any more expansion of existing routes? Assuming you work for them of course!
Interesting to hear about the possibility of Loganair once they get their "new" Saab 340Bs that ABZ may be in line for expansion & that Logie may fly in conjunction with "another airline" without it being described as a "merger". Post BA-franchise in 2008, I wonder who that could be (IF that part of it is true).
Seems the W taxiway from W1 to terminal now resurfaced & in use again - ahead of schedule?

Eastern and their 777 could do it.Hey while I'm on about Eastern do they issue their passengers with a free set of binoculars with their tickets.Spot the F3's and the airshow while they blast around in Uncontrolled Airspace oblivious to what's about to attack them. There is Controlled Airspace up here for the publics protection. Why don't they use it?

July 2007 intl pax
Don't intend reprising all the monthly figs, but a few caught my eye:
(Total 99,251 pax)
AMS: 25,123 - top intl route, bit surprised bmi couldn't gain a foothold on this route, looks like KLM will have the monopoly for now.
CDG: 12,139 - is it time for AFR to have competition on this route?
SVG: 11,072 - can this route grow any more, especially now with so many operators & rotations vying for business?
AGP: 5,198 - the route MON are dropping in Nov
The other bmi figs interest me:
a. EBJ: 1,311
b. GRQ: 682
c. KRS: 532
d. BRU: 435
Not much difference between b, c, & d. Can't decide whether KRS is off to a good start or not, as it had much the same freq as BRU had, BRU isn't far behind but bmi decided not to wait to see if figs would improve & axed it. After all EBJ has been allowed to build up over the years.
MJV: 1,335 - was the worst performing of the GSM routes, but that doesn't seem so bad for a 1x weekly route? And it isn't the worst performing "holiday" route, for example the BOJ route, also 1x weekly was slightly less (albeit not a "scheduled" route).
Vagar: 118 - Will Atlantic A/W continue flying Faroes/ABZ much longer?
KSU: 16!!! - Presume X9 make their money on the ABZ-SVG, & the SVG-KSU legs of the run & NOT anyone wanting to get from ABZ to KSU! Will be interesting if something similar happens on the ABZ-SVG-AES route starting today.

Would use the airway you mentioned if it was open all the time and not just Friday Evening until 0900 Monday Morning. And the so called Class C airspace introduced is a joke because the military can still do what they want up to FL240.
By the way when does a J41 look like a bear bomber or suckhoi 37, god bless the RAF
