I think BA only pay Aviance for the basic package.Ground handling, push back.Once the a/c is pushing then the info is sent to Berlin, and they get the figures through ACARS.However at that time in the morning Berlin can't cope, hence the delay.
The aircraft lined up,is probably the Tower controller hoping that they get the figures and get them away.High risk because if it goes wrong then you have to get them off quick, and to the back of the queue.Perhaps BA should delay push until they have the figures, but then they would be tight on slots. We could leave them at the hold, but we have to consider the delay to everyone behind.Sometimes BA can miss their slot as well.Pain in Ase.
Ps This problem only seems to have started after they closed their ground handling operation.

BA have been doing this for years and in the days of when BA did the handling, the sending of the ACARS message was controlled by the dispatcher at the gate. Whether it went directly or had to go somewhere else was a different matter though.
The ACARS system works as follows. The dispatcher will bring a 'Provisional Loadsheet' in paper form to the crew on the turnaround, which gets signed in the usual manner. Providing the actual weights are reasonably close (there are set parameters) then the actual figures are sent by ACARS to the aircraft. It is designed to save time... providing it is done properly. If the provisional is not within the parameters, then a new paper loadsheet needs to be presented to the crew. The actual figures will be spewed out of the printer on board and the figures adjusted into the FMS as required.
You even hear BA aircraft at the London airport occasionally having to wait for the figures!
Outsourcing this sort of stuff to other airports is not new. I believe that Circusair have their ABZ loadsheets generated in MAN!

At the London airport there is probably a bit of tarmac where they can wait and let others past.At Aberdeen not so easy.We could easily leave them at the hold, which delays everyone else. Then they miss their slot.
Could they not get the figures before start. This happens to LL and KK flights, sometimes at the same time.
Lets see if it happens tomorrow.

The Coiffered One
And so The Don/Trumpmeister/Golfing Guru/Hairpiece Expert has dined on his haggis & venison & is about to depart back over the Pond to NY in the G5 (gold plated??) he used for the occasion this time (but nae red carpet).
Seems determined to get his "vision" of his off the drawing board & into reality.
The BAA were represented at the recent 6hr(!!) meeting in Balmedie, coming down surprisingly in support of his application for "the word's greatest golfing paradise"
But where will they park all the bizjets that will come flooding across the Atlantic & elsewhere should it be built? East Apron big enough?
I think I recall TAD calling his project a "white elephant" - so a year+ on since his last visit to announce the thing, could this cause a boom in tourists, complete with golf clubs, to ABZ? How much traffic at ABZ now is "business leisure"?
Local council vote at the end of Oct, but it may NOT be the last of it as the wheels of planning get caught up in ever increasing red tape & bureaucracy...sounds like the BAA in fact!

Sept 2007
Well he burned his bridges with one farmer. Accused Mr Farmer of not maintaining his buildings, shocking disrepair etc (& yes they HAD tried to buy his land!!)
When I saw the pics, it looked like A NORMAL FARM. Funny that.
Sept 2007 pax +10.5% on last year
BHX +138%!! What's to do in Brum these days? Lots it seems.
CPH +65%
CDG +50%
OE2007 obviously helped.
But who's going to handle them all - the ground handling agents are fleeing the airport!!

ABZ SAS employee has told me there is a review of UK/Euro operations, but is not aware of any major decisions/closures/new stations.

Croatia is back
Newmarket Holidays offering flights in 2008 to Croatia (Pula) from June.
Is this the first regular Croatian flights since the early 90s, when there were flights to Pula & Dubrovnik?
I recall Aviogenex sending up 2 732's at the same time to operate the flights, Sun evenings.
EDIT: YUP, it's BACK all right...for ONE week apparently (3-10 June!!)
DBK= Dubrovnik Airlines (appropriate callsign of "SEAGULL"! )
MD80
No other dates I can see.

I don't have a split of who's doing what on SVG - I'm not that well connected!
Everyone - SAS Norway (I prefer Braathens!!), Wideroe, City Star & Eastern most recently seem happy with their lot.
T3 must have got some sort of foot in the door as they are adding another (lunchtime) flight from Oct 20, & one on Sun.
WF also adding a nightstopper (SVG-ABZ) from winter timetable Su-Th.
Loads on some flights (esp off-peak) won't be all that crash-hot, but nice juicy yields will be the key, Stavanger being Aberdeen's equivalent in Norway.
Wonder if KLM wish they'd stuck at the route!
I'm just waiting for a loco operator to muscle onto the route!

Loco to AMS or CDG is a nice idea.
Get the impression though that the major locos ain't interested in ABZ. Especially EZY.
Always somewhere else to serve first.
Too small catchment area, & not enough inbound tourists - they head elsewhere.
Maybe some local entrepreuner will lauch a loco airline specifically for ABZ, based in ABZ!
Other than that seems future growth will come from the likes of X9, T3 or bmi R.

Are their anymore flights to Stavanger? I really want to go, or if not then how about manchester? I'm glad geneva got chopped before it started, I'd hate to think that my fellow Aberdonians would turn up in Switzerland with with inflatable donkeys and Sombreros etc only to be dissapointed with the Eiger and lake Geneva...

I take it you weren't meaning the airport Richard!
ABZ management can do worse than take advantage of one of the numerous flights available to this destination and learn how to build and operate a "proper" airport worthy of an Oil Capital!

Plenty of things you can do with an inflatable donkey, & not just in Geneva...
Still think GSM didn't give it (& other winter routes) a chance to buildup demand before pulling them. Especially with city breaks, very few people plan months ahead in advance, especially if it's just a weekend break for example. TAD said exactly that & he's right.
Yeah GAW, DEFINITELY NOT the airport!
Actually it's not just the airport over which Stavanger can show Aberdeen a thing or two.
