How to reach SIA Cadet Applicants

G'Day All

I work for a company that provides training for applicants to pass airline selection tests. We have a highly successful and busy program training people to pass such tests as the Qantas pilot and RAAF pilot selection tests.

We aim to also deliver our program in Singapore to SIA cadet hopefuls my question is this - how do we reach this potential market ?

Any suggestions regarding other websites , magazines , newspapers we could advertise in would be greatly appreciated.

Presently we advertise on pprune and have done significant brochure mailouts. We know our programs are highly effective and we have the data to prove that they work( 95% pass rates).

thks to cire07 and WSSSWSSS

I hereby thks for the general details provided by cire07 and WSSS.

May i kindly ask how do you all prepare yourself for the aptitude tests and is it really as hard as what the others claim it to be?

Also may i know from your experience, what do you feel is the real determinant that really decides how one passes the final interview?

Thridly, how do you all go about resolving the hostile situation presented by the interviewers?

What are the kind of hostile questions they may ask(if anyone of you do nt mind sharing)

Ps: shoutout for all who helped and i sincerely thk you for your time and effort , thks

Interview...

I think "aptitude" is something which you either have or u don't... Quick thinking, multi-tasking, etc etc...
hostile interview panel? Hmmm... Jus keep smiling i guess... Answer the question(s) to the point, dun bull**** them... Be polite if you wanna contradict the interviewers, but be open to opinions that oppose ur own...
Be confident but not cocky... etc etc
Basically, i guess you must portray a good outward appearance and image, show that you have an eagerness for the job, talk properly...etc etc...
But of cos, be able to back up ur "eagerness" with substantial knowledge of the aviation industry and SIA's corporate profile...
Good Luck

SQC direct entry

I want to know how SQ select their cadets for SQ mainline, SQ Cargo and SilkAir. Is it based on performance during flight training? Ground school 6 months in Seletar (CAAS license) and flight training in Brisbane? (no need to convert CAAS to CASA license?)

Brisbane Lear Jet jet conversion using which type? Lear Jet 35? or the newest one Lear Jet 60? After Lear Jet how many months for 777 or 747 or A320 type rating?

For SQC direct entry normally do we need to attend OBS in Ubin too?

You want to know? Ok, since you demand it, I'll tell you la.

Whether you get into SIA, SIACargo or Silkair all depends on whether the respective subsidiaries foresee the demand for pilots in the next 2 years. So, luck of the draw, not performance. Like what Joyce would say, "Fly is still fly wat. No difference."

Ground school in Seletar for 6 months gives you a Singapore SPL (woohoo), a frozen ATPL, Performance A, technical papers and type-rating for Cessna 152, Cessna 172 and the Baron BE58.

You go to Perth (not Brisbane, yet) where you get your Australian SPL (woohoo again), and your CAAS CPL with the lot.

Jet training in Brisbane (Maroochydore) is on the Lear45.

If you are joining Silkair, you do not go to Brisbane. After returning from Perth, you start your A320 conversion training. If you are in the mainline, you will be on the 777 conversion. If you are in Cargo, you will be on the 747 conversion. Takes about a year from the time you start ground school until you get your two bars.

Direct entry captains and first officers do not have to. However, if you mean by direct entry cadets (or just cadets), then yeah, everyone goes to OBS. Silkair too.

hmm I know of 2 persons who had to attend OBS even though they were DE FOs to SQC. But maybe bec they were nt rated on the 744, or because they are employed on local terms... not sure.

What's Jandakot have to do with line training?
Most if not all line training will be done in Singapore, from the ground school (CBT a.k.a Coffee Break Time) for your respective fleet (A320, B747 or B777), then followed by Sim sessions, all are done in STC, with the exception of B747 Sim. Then come the flying with the real plane, doing couple of circuits in Changi or Senai. Once you completed this stage, you'll get your first bar (Second Officer).
It will take around another 6 more months (plus/minus couple of months) of flying as Second Officer before getting your second bar (First Officer).
Average time for line training is still around 1 year.
