SIA ccp 1st round failure

Hello every one,
I am new to here, but just another guy who want to be a pilot since young. here is my story,

I attend sia ccp 1st interview this year feb, but failed, in the application database, the status is still under "confirmed", it seem that there is no changing of status till today. From the thread, some people saying 6month is the shortest period you need to wait for before another application, can some one confirm this?

Also, i would like to call up the SIA HR like what pilot dreamer did to clarify the my status. The road to be a pilot is long, but i ain't going to give up. I really appreciate the people in this forum, they are helping one and other. thank in advance for the advice.

newcomer

hi everyone,

just a greeting to everyone here. Nice to know u all. some self intro about myself.

currently i am 25 (turning 26 this yr). because i just graduated from polytechnic last yr and underaged, i cannot try for the SQ cadet pilot. now i am with SIA as cabin crew. dreams of being a cockpit crew grew even stronger came after an incident when the captain allow me to sit in for the landing. each time i go inside the cockpit to serve the tech crew, whenever i see the skies outside the window, it looks so pretty and so different from the view i am seeing always at the door exit/cabin windows. fell in love with the passion of flying instead of sitting behind. : )

occasionally, i will communicate with the tech crews during my stayover or flight, and so luckily, during my last flight, my senior FO gave me this forum link and told me that i can find more people of my kind. i thank him for it and hope 1 day i will be able to sit side by side flying with him.

there are a couple of questions in my mind but i shall not shoot them now. i guess i will run thru all of the threads first. maybe the qns had been asked b4.

anyway nice knowing u guys..

cheers,

ekenikichi

PS, any cabin crew crossed-over pilots here? to my knowledge, there should quite a handful.

Hi guys, with regards to contact lenses, just for an update, CAAS now allows for some leeway to wearing contacts for flying.

Whereas previously in the license it was holder to wear spectacles for vision correction,

Now it states license holder is to wear lenses for vision correction. Most of us have taken it to mean that we can wear contacts for flying.

all the best to your flying dreams

Pilot interview

Dear saxmachine05,

Told you? Have faith and your dream will come true.

Any family doctor should be able to do it for you.

When is your interview?

Anyone going for 2nd round on 4th July '07?

Hey guys,

Anyone out there going for the 2nd round interview on the 4th next month? We should get in touch!

Saxmachine05,

You can get the test done at any GP. Got mine done at a clinic near home. Remember NOT to go to an optician to do the test, though it'd be good to check out your actual degree (if any). Good luck for your interview!

Cheers.

Hi yellowbirdy,

Went for first round on 06 June. Waited ~2 weeks for a reply. Don't fret! It's early days yet... I know of someone who waited almost a whole month before he got the green light for the 2nd round! Have faith! And good luck!

Cheers.

Another sad case of LASIK

Hi Uluwatu06

I guess we're both in the same boat. I had pre-lasik short-sightedness of almost 700 degrees (7.00 D). I went for my first interview back in 2005 when there was no need to declare about corrections with LASIK. Unfortunately, I was not shortlisted for further rounds of selection. But I did not give up. Despite being busy with my postgraduate studies then, I tried to read up more on aviation. In a way, I was lucky to get another chance for a first interview in 2006. This time, however, candidates had to declare whether they had gone through LASIK and the pre-ops short-sightedness.

From your posting and the info you got from HR, I guess that my LASIK declaration must be the reason why I got a very quick rejection email from Joyce the very next morning after the interview.

Sighz... I guess sometimes in life we just have to let go of our dreams. We have tried our best, so it is not our fault... because some things are just beyond our control. I am already 30 this year and I don't think CAAS or SQ will change their hiring policy that soon, as long as there are always candidates for the HR/senior pilots to choose from.

I wish you guys who are going for your interviews all the best. Cheers.

Asthmatic pilot?

Anyone know of whether there's a precedent set for childhood asthma sufferers when it comes to clearing the medical round for SQ?

Anyone in the same boat had ST Aeromed request for a MCT challenge or full volume flow spirometry test?

Dhaneeshy,

this thread itself is a good starting point.
Google is another area to find all your answers.

OBS 131 on 23th August

Hey guys, i have cleared my medical back on 9 July 2007. If i am not mistaken, the next OBS batch 131 would commence on 23th August 2007. I would like to know if there's anyone who has been called up for batch 131. So far, i have spoken to a person who is confirmed to be in that batch, but his case was special because he delayed his training which was supposed to be with the batch 130 (13th July).

Hi everyone, my maiden post here...

I am called up for my 1st interview on 16Aug07, but the problem is I will only be turning 25 two days later (ie on the 18thAug).

From what I have gathered from this thread, the min age requirement is 25.5-26 yo right? So I was a bit shocked they called me up for the interview even though I have clearly stated my birthdate on the application form in singaporeair.com.
Will I be wasting my time if I were to go for the interview this coming 16thAug? ('cos I actually have classes that day; will probably be skipping them should I go for the interview.)

Please advice as I need to send an email back to joyce by 2ndAug.

Cheers

Proviso: I will only be finishing my last sem in NUS this coming dec( by the 1st week of dec). Went to the SIA walk-in cabin crew interview for experience (the interviews i mean) and managed to pass through all the 4 rds. And they are willing to hold it for me. Basically I applied for the steward position to wait till I am eligible (ie 'old' enough) for the position of cadet pilot. Now I am wondering will the position of tech crew be "holdable"??
