Hi guys,

I happened to came across this forum and i think that it's really very informative. I wanted to be a pilot too and i really envy those who got to live my dream. I like to apply for an interview..but not sure if i would get a chance.. can someone give me some advice?

I'm a Singaporean..currently 31. I've 5 'O' level credit but my science is combine science. I've a diploma in Civil and Structural Engineering and also a degree in Business (graduated from University of London external student program). Do you all think i'll stand in chance of being selected as i'm afraid that i may be too old. Anyway there is no harm in trying right..

No you're not too old, but SIA's cut off age is 31 for ab-initio cadets, so you've got to apply now.

33? Is that an arbitrary number you just pulled out or some changes in SIA's policy which I'm not aware of?

I was helping out in the recruitment department while I was a cadet, sorting out applications for the initial interview. The max age SIA accepts as an ab-initio was 31 then, and I doubt it's changed recently.

hi, well, there's never a range you can expect from them. it depends. the email they sent, was to an email address i used to apply with almost a year ago. i was using another email address from the 30th of jan this yr, and they didn't reply to that one yet. all details are the same.

i've got friends who get replied within 2 weeks, and some in this thread, have gotten the email within 1 week.

no news is good news.

well, there's the newspapers you can read up. business times in sg has aviation news on certain days. but generally, jus read up those more important news..like bird flu, US-EU open skies pact, SIA news, fleet information,(wikipedia-singapore airlines) is pretty good.

have you flown with the air force before? if you do, they'd ask you stuff like stalling procedures, the engines on the s211, mechanics of flight..how planes fly.. stuff like that.

took me a couple of hours to go thru every single thread in this topic. but i think it was worth it. check it out too k?

anyway, brief intro on myself,
turning 25 on 19th may,
ex rsaf, chopped at BWC,
SG CHI,
first time applicant.

Indian Cadet Pilot Programme by SIA

Such a programme for Indians had been started by SIA and last date for entry was 10th March, 2007. I applied before that date. I have just completed my final year at school with Physics and Maths(in English). THe school result is awaited(expected to be out in May). I wanted to know how much time is generally taken by SIA in informing the selected candidates, and will this very fact that my school result is not yet declared, can this go against my selection. If I do not get selected, I plan to take my training to obtain CPL from Sydney at my own expenses.

So, any help from u frnds will be appreciated.(I am a newbie here).
Thanx

Degree

Greetings to all,

Took me quite a while to digest 42 pages worth of information as well as other relevant topics.

I would like to enquire if anyone know if 5 GCE credits is still applicable if you have a degree ?

I'm a Singaporean currently studying in Perth and about to graduate end of 07 with double major in management and marketing. I did my highschool and college in Perth. Would greatly appreciate anyone who can assist me.
