i'm aware that the minimum height is 1.65. Were there anyone who's below 1.65 and gotten an offer before?

Thanks.

Eyesight

Allo SIA high flyers!
I have applied for SIA cadet pilot scheme on 25th Dec 06.
I have a question regarding eyesight.
My right & left eye is around 550 degrees.(Requirement is 6/60 without optical aids) n i am not so sure bout this measurement.
Is it possible for me to be a pilot or i need to do LASIK before i apply for piloting?
Anybody having the same problem as me?Can you share with me your experience?

I see some SIA cadets shorter than myself by at least an estimated 10cm and I am 169cm. It only becomes an issue when you start flying the baron.

Is it true that SIA is accepting Indian nationals for the cadet scheme also? I read it on pilotpointer.com but saw nothing on the SIA website.

Burnum Turnum

Yes, they hire indian nationals, but usually those with basic CPL/IR. Most of the time they seem to go straight to the LearJet in QLD, Australia as soon as they finish ATPLs.

Need Advicesssss

Hi all,

I have some doubts regards cadet pilot application, lets have some introduction about myself:

I had just finished my contract in the Air force, currently holding a engineering diploma and will finish my degree in aerospace by July this year. I had come across the cadet pilot application in the classified and is tempted to apply to fulfill my aspiration as a pilot. But i am in a dilemma now over whether to apply now with a diploma or to wait until i get my aerospace degree to reinforce my chances. I am a person who do not want to fight a unconfident battle as I learnt from some pilot website which stated its better to apply with a degree. On the other hand, i began to probe if i dont apply now, the chances will be slimmer at next recruitment as the quota for cadet pilot will be filled and the demand is not there anymore.

Any bros out there who is also reaching a cross-junction of our life? Pls don't ask me to read other thread as i still have not got an similar answer from this forum. Maybe any pilot wannabes or pilot already in SIA can advice me on that... Thanks a million!!!!!

Hi Pilotfancy21,
To be honest, I'm not too sure whether your aerospace degree will help you in securing the cadetship in SIA. In SIA, there are doctors, lawyers, engineers, accoutant, diploma holders, even 'O' levels holders (though they are very senior in SIA) in the cockpit.
I think most applicant fail in their interview and that has nothing to do with the amount of paper qualification they have.
But, I will strongly recommend that if you are already in your bachelor course, finished it because at least you have something to fall back to if you do not make it through the training.
Don't worry that SIA cadet program will end. As long as you see "foreign talent" donning the SIA uniform, you know they do not have enough pilots.

degree WITH HONOURS?

The SIA cadet pilot application says that:
"University honours degree, preferably in the engineering or pure science disciplines"

Does anybody know how strict they are on this?

Personally I have a normal bachelor's degree in commerce. i know this is good enough for other airlines such as cathay but it just seems funny that they require an HONOURS degree

while i appreciate they preferably want someone who's done engineering or pure sciences, i know they accept people from other disciplines so hopefully that shouldn't hinder my chances, right?

Thk917,
the reason there are no jobs in the job section is because you haven't yet been offered a job. You must go through the interview process for them to offer you a job.

Any idea on the proportion of cadets getting into mainline/ silkair/ cargo?

Hi all:
I was just wondering if anyone here has a vague idea of the proportion of cadets getting into Singapore Airlines/ Cargo / Silkair. I realize that it depends on their demands, however, if there is anyone in recruitment or has knowledge of this could you pls let me know.
Cheers.

X-factor?

Hi guys, this is my first post here. No prize for guessing what i wanna be next time! Well having been rejected during the interview stage of my rsaf pilot application years back have left me quite traumatised and since applying for a SIA cadet position is probably gonna be my last shot I might need all the help I can get. Cadets, pilots, frens of pilots I have just one question for you. If you're gonna find one similarity between all of them what would it be?(apart frm the love of flying of course)

If you want a vague idea do some research. The fleet size of each company is public information. Just compare the numbers against each other and you will have your vague idea which incidentally has been quite consistent (proportion wise) with the exception of extraordinary events which skew the numbers a bit.

Before you sign on the dotted line you will be told of where you are going. You can always turn them down.

Hi dragonz,

As long as you do well in the psychomotor test, team building exercises and present yourself as a potential leader in the interview, then it wouldn't matter what paper qualifications you hold. So far, I have met engineers, accountants, advertising executives, economists, doctors, scientists, school grads, I.T., technical specialists....the list goes on.

Devil Do you know?

Hi there all,

Is there a very senior SriLankan pilot in SIA? I think his name is Captain Rohan?
If it helps, I understand that he was the youngest 747 commander in Asia in the 70's.

He is a family friend and I am just trying to get in touch with him ! Would appreciate if anybody can help.

Thank you. Safe flying !
