My status is REJECTED. No 1st interview even.

What could be the possible reasons? Do they look at pre-LASIK degrees? I'm waiting for uni's transcript, I'm taller than minimum height. I fulfil all requirements.

Is my elder bro, now a cadet (finished Perth and Bbane), considered as a disadvantage?

I'm dumbfounded.

1)How do you know it's an outright rejection?

2)Having a sibling who's in the airline is definitely not a disadvantage and certainly not held against you.

Things have really changed since they introduced this system. Well, it's easy to solve this mystery. If your brother is finished with MCY and is still a cadet it means that he's waiting or is doing his conversion. So get him to check with the department when he's at STC. If you fulfill all the requirements, there's no reason why you shouldn't at least get the first interview.

Hi Knightwhosays_NI,

Yeah, he said he will try to check it out for me later today, friday. Still clinging on to this little glimmer of hope.

It's not the end.

History has shown that there is another way.

So far there have been a few private candidates at SFC. Your brother should be able to provide some inside info about this. If he is still not yet a first officer he should be not too far behind on what's happening there.

The long and short of it is - you can still be part of the SIA family (sniff sniff that is so touching).

If it is really confirmed that you have been rejected as a cadet, you can still apply to be a private candidate.

Work hard, make yourself seen to be working hard, and there will be job interviews and offers made (if you are worthy).

They have had 4 private candiates (last I heard), 3 got offers from Cargo I think, so at least they only have to pay less than $80K for their frozen ATPL (because after they get a firm offer from Cargo, Cargo takes over the training costs). The remaining 1 who got chopped (even as a private candidate you can and WILL get chopped if you are bloody lazy) was a rich kid who drove his father's Audi TT to school.

But in the meantime wait to see if your application is well and truly finished.

Thanks TI for the words of encouragement. Will keep them in mind, definitely.

Anyway, what's the diff between "Cadet Pilot (Singapore)" and "Flt Ops (Cadet Pilot) (Singapore)"?

They are all cadet pilots, just in different stages of the training. Those cadets assigned to Flight Ops are probably waiting for the next phase of training ie. LJ45 or B777/B744.

hi ninervictor,

The "Flt Ops (Cadet Pilot) (Singapore)" position is listed at the SQ site as a job vacancy. Is it the same as "Cadet Pilot (Singapore)", but just under different name?

Hi uluwatu, my apologies. I misunderstood your question. I have just visited SQ's website, and I believe they mean the same thing. Cheers.

If u go through the web page in detail, you will see at the bottom the following

Please apply under the ''Cadet Pilot (Singapore)'' position.
although the job vacancy highlights Flt Ops (cadet pilots).

cheers

Good luck to all those awaiting 1st intwv or others.

kaku_380,

if you can afford your own CPL and the costs after that, SIA cadet pilot program is not worth your time.

Saying something like that without backing it up with reasons is simply frivolous. Maybe you've given your reasons in past threads long buried. Care to bang out a summary for us?
