Hi all ok I got McCully and got blasted by him for forgeting some stuff ... suffice to say that yes he is stern and O level grades are important to him. However I was truthful and did my best to answer him. Questions directed to me would not be asked to anyone else so dont bother asking me.

Those with prior experience in flying pls read up on your prev a/c and checks thats all I can say. Remember PRE STALL CHECKS he is LOOKING FOR HASELL ! I forgot the S and got blasted !

Btw: H=Height, A=Airframe, S=Security, E=Engine, L=Lookout, L=Location

For now I am through to the next round of interviews happening tomorrow, good luck to the rest !

no idea ... btw, if any one of you guys have seriously tried all means to be accepted into the abinitio scheme but unfortunately failed, SFC is starting to regularly take in paying customers. If you can afford more than 100k, this will allow you to follow the normal course of a cadet pilot all the way from ATPLs to getting your CPL/IR at Jandakot. Expensive, but at least you're taking a step closer to becoming a commercial pilot.

Hi guys went through the 2nd interview + sit test and tea party yesterday. Suffice to say I am throught to the medical tomorrow.

Sit test was design an airport individually then present it to the group. Then the whole group was to come together and design an airport and present it. Part 2 was to build a tower from lego bricks and finally debrief for the whole group. Do take note that there were time constraints so 1 guy has to lookout for the time left.

2nd round of interviews I faced a full panel of 6 people including Mcully again, more questions of the technical kind like engine type of fuel used and where boeing is made( USA ohio) and airbus(france tolose<--dunno how to spell). Also which countries are represented in airbus( france, germany, spain, UK). He aslso asked about what new a/c are coming into the fleet so I said the A380 and 787. He asked what so special about the 787 and was looking for the ans of carbon fibre and alloy composite materials used to construct the airframe, cutting down on weight and more efficient engines. He also asked about the GPS systems and flight mgt systems in a mordern a/c, well that all i can say for now i guess, wish me luck !

Hi guys a few more common questions are also about the principles of flight like how does an aircraft turn( roll with ailerons primary effect, secondary effect is a yaw) along its longitudinal axis(from nose to tail) , Climb/desend (pitch up/down with elevator or horizontal stabilator along it's lateral axis(wing tip to wing tip) and yaw (primary effect, secondary effect is a roll) left/right(with rudder in vertical stabilator) . Good luck to the rest !

Unhappy My worries

Hi all,

I am currently age 23, had perviously applied for the post of cadet pilot twice, last year whereby i send in my hard copy application and this year during july, an online application. Till date, i had not had any respond from SIA.

As i did not meet the pre-requirement that SIA had set. I have 5 O level but i did not pass my english during my 1st attempt, during my 2nd attempt, i manage to attain a C6. I also do not have a pure science sub but only combine science.

Perviously, i am an airforce drop out during the air grading phase.

Currently i am a diploma holder from TP and currently studying in an engineering course in NTU. I will be graduating in half a years time.

I really hope to be a cadet pilot after my graduation but was advice by some friends of mine, my chances are very slim as i did not attain a pass in english during my 1st attempt. Some also told me that i actually did not meet the age requirement yet. I heard that once you are an airforce drop out, you could apply anytime after the age of 23.

Could anyone clarify my doubt and give me some advice?

Thanks so much!
Hope to be a pilot is offline

SIA cadet pilot selection frequency?

Dear All,

I find this forum very informative and helpful. Thanks a lot for everyone.

Here I got some questions, please advice:

1. Is there any fix timing (mean that twice a year or etc.) for cadet pilot program selection? I did send in my online application since July 06, untill today i still do not have any news from SIA? Is there any time frame or lead time from SIA between the application to the date SIA call up for interview?

2. I did meet the all the requirements in academy (one sitting for SPM and I did completed my degree in engineering last year) but one thing lack is I'm only 1.64m! Is it short of 1cm will disqualified me from the application?

Hope can have your advice soon.

Regards,
Elixees

It will take approx. a month for you to be called on next interview but there is no confirmation. Some have been called within a week.
As for trigger quest....the norm interview ques have been revised i suppose. In view of that i guess the old trigger ques was not triggered enough. Cheers mate

mike79,

I take it that you want to apply for SIA cadetship. If you are then you don't need to write a resume or a cover letter. Just go and create a profile and fill in your details, apply for the position and follow the rest of the instructions that you want. I include the link below. I hope it helps.

cheers and all the best
