According the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Russia lost around 50% of its pre-invasion fleet of modern T-72B3s and T-72B3M main battle tanks. The inventory of T-80BV/U tanks is estimated to have been reduced by even two-thirds.

1/7 The situation in the Vuhledar area remains stable, however, the enemy doesn't seem to reduce the pressure despite losses. The tactics remain the same: advancing infantry groups covered by tank and artillery fire.….

The Times:
“Russia is losing as many as 2,000 men for every 100 yards gained in human wave assaults in eastern Ukraine, according to Nato intelligence.”

I know it is a long read, but it is definitely a 'know thine enemy' piece.

The problem with that is you need to send them over in sufficient numbers to literally swamp the defence and I am talking thousands at once as they did during WW2, sending them over in lots of 50ish does nothing and is simply squandering your resources for nothing.

Attacks using tanks with no infantry support is not a real good idea.
Conversely attacks using infantry with no tank or other armoured support is not a good idea either.
Both are lose, lose scenarios.
MINOR RANT
As an aside I think that with all the $$$$$++++++ NATO has spent on defence that when push comes to shove and we don’t have huge supplies of ammunition is blatant incompetence. 2 years to produce more? Good gawd what was the plan if NATO itself had been attacked? Go ugly (nuclear) early?
Some think that they just want to supply enough arms and munitions to let the war drag on.
Heavens forbid that they allow Ukraine to target stuff far inside Russia because “It may be seen as a provocation”. Talk about having to fight with one arm tied behind your back. Repelling a vicious attack by the local insane bully is not a boxing match with a referee and the Marquess of Queensberry Rules!
