Bulgaria, Russia clash over Ukrainian helicopter repairs

SOFIA, Bulgaria — Bulgaria’s defense capabilities will not be seriously affected by Moscow’s decision to suspend Russian helicopter repair certificates to local companies, the defense minister said Friday.

The statement implies that Russia will also no longer provide spare parts.

Bulgaria had previously agreed to repair Ukrainian military equipment at its military factories, although it refused to send weapons directly.
Zakov said that Moscow’s decision would not seriously affect Bulgaria, nor would it hinder its repair of Ukrainian military equipment.
“What happened with gas has now happened with helicopter licenses,” Zakov said, referring to an earlier suspension of Russian gas deliveries to Bulgaria after it refused to pay in rubles….
Sounds like a self mutilation threat by Russian Aerospace. Russia has spent 30 years dropping the technical competency of its population, and is now happy to cut off their nose in response to the rest of the world being tired and irritated by the incessant noise from the Kremlin. Bulgaria has alternatives to any component that was acquired from Russia proper, most of which appears to have originated in the Ukraine anyway, at least in much of their aircraft. On the world stage, Russia getting uppity on parts gives an impetus to going for western heavy lift helo's instead. Tooling for the Tarhe is still available, won't be cheap, but won't be Russian either.

Had looked at MRO capability in Bulgaria a few years back for a large aircraft, they were competent and competitive, and they aren't Russia.

How's the market for key rings going for the entrepreneurs there? There's a fair supply of material to put on Ebay

Noteworthy development:

Zelenskiy fires Ukraine’s spy chief and top state prosecutor

"Sunday’s abrupt sackings of SBU chief Ivan Bakanov, a childhood friend of Zelenskiy, and the prosecutor general, Iryna Venediktova, who played a key role in the prosecution of Russian war crimes, were announced in executive orders on the president’s website."
What is troubling about this is that Russia could quite easily so discord amongst the higher ranks of the leadership by sending a few texts here, placing the odd deposit in a bank account there. That said, I wouldn't be at all surprised in western intelligence agencies are helping the SBU out, in both watching out for Russian ops and chasing down suspected collaborators.

Yes, I'm convinced that there is a huge amount of covert intelligence support being given to the Ukrainian government by assorted western agencies, and long may it continue.

I wonder if it is the USA preventing the strikes on the bridge? the fact that Russia has upped the anti by protecting it and moving the fleet out of Sevestapol means they are expecting them to be attacked, that and Meddleov having spouted the same old, if you retake Crimea we will blah.. blah... blah.. we will throw our dummies out of the pram nonsense, must mean they are worried..

does that have any relevance to the Gernan false claim that NATO countries have an agreement not to supply Ukraine with tanks?

Now reported on reddit that the Su34 was a, er, Red-on-Red? own goal... as in shot down by the Russian's air defences.

They even published it on Telegram as a kill for their air defence, until somone realised it had a Russian serial number and it was hastily pulled.

UKR Military Intelligence tracked down a Russian subversive unit in the Kharkiv region. 36 were killed by artillery. Later, the group was engaged and their naval commanding officer captured alive…
