Once again you attempt to apply a heavy slant to matters. As said by Nutty, the heavy artillery bombardment over a wide front is recent - only been happening for 25% (?) of the war: even when Mariupol was being reduced to rubble, the numbers of Ukranians killed would have been far less because of protection by the destroyed buildings.

Maybe so, but reports such as this WSJ piece (https://www.wsj.com/articles/ukraine...rusukrainenato) suggest that the suffering is equally distributed.
The Ukrainian prohibition on men between 18 and 60 from leaving the country also indicates that manpower is in short supply.

That is just sensible. Why would you let your male population leave? It's not just military that no doubt requires them, but the whole Countries infrastructure, construction, engineering etc.

Depends. Saddam had a long time to prepare defenses in 1990/1991 and that axiom did not fit that situation. Mind you, it wasn't unseasoned conscripts in the attack.

Air Power had a lot to do with that too. Russia has never managed to rule the air over Ukraine.

Yes, having air superiority/supremacy sure is an advantage.

I know nothing about the Russian legal/military system, but needing to pass new laws to repair damaged equipment ? Even if this was legally the case I would have expected Putin to ignore it.

What is a point of interest is the almost complete lack of evidence of the use of Switchblade weapons. I’ve seen one video of a 300, but nothing else.

I wonder why?

This latest attack of a block of flats killing 19 in Odessa. It’s 100km from the nearest front. Why?

Sounds like an analog to the US Defense Production Act.
Agree that it is surprising that Russia does not have such a statute already on the books. But Putin has generally been careful to use the law, rather than to ignore it.

You clearly don't do politics much.
There the basic rule of law was succinctly expressed by the late Roy Cohn: 'I don't know the law, but I know the judge'. Putin has used this to his advantage from his early days in Yeltsin Russia.
Maybe look back at Yukos, hit with fines greater than their revenues and forced into liquidation. The letter of the law matters in Russia, as interpreted by the Kremlin.

you spout the rule of law crap while on one hand glossing over the total lack of adherence to the rules of law of the Geneva convention.

A Russian landing vessel has hit a mine in Mariupol, so much for their clearance.

Russia struck Snake Island with phosphorus bombs. Incinerating any remaining assets? Hoping to catch Ukrainians on it?

No destroying the **** they left behind, In a surprise to no one apparently its been a bit of cluster ****,

1 the supply ship they sent to retrieve the troops and hardware got sunk. Theres still some debate as to if they are talking about the tug or another one
2 They sent helicopters to get the men, they were supposed to torch the the hardware left behind they didn't
3 One of the escorting KA-52's was shot down, the SAR helicopter looking for it was shot down
4 They bombed the island to destroy the hardware they left behind. One filmed bombing raid the a russian fighter actually missed the island with 3 out of 4 of the bombs
