No provident fund?
I’m comparing Etihad to Fly Dubai or Emirates. According to my calculations, you get paid less at Etihad. To make matters worse, there is no provident fund which put EY pilots in a significant disadvantage financially. Pilots at FZ or EK come out way ahead financially especially if they are working more than 15 years. Why hasnt this been discussed? Why do people still join Etihad? Can someone shed a light.

I'm also trying to figure out the same thing. Based on the figures both companies advertise online, It seems that a captain at EK will be at least 15,000 AED better off a month with two kids in high school.
Are EY paying what's advertised on their website, or have they increased the pay? I can't see why anyone would go to EY. Obviously, there will be EK leftovers and those who just really prefer Abu Dhabi over Dubai, but if EY wants to recruit the numbers that have been rumoured, having an uncompetitive package seems an odd way to go about a big recruitment drive.

But ultimately its a numbers game..I can’t see EY hiring as much as they need especially with Riyadh ordering 60 A321s…I think a good number would move across unless package improves

Apparently the selection process in Etihad is the toughest out of the ME3. The sim assessment is a proper EBT based process. Some colleuages who attended recently said out of 21 candidates only 1 made it through.
Reason why many goes to Etihad is the company culture and also quiet lifestyle in AUH.

The latest entries to Raha Beach over the last year or two have much to be desired from the mouth of a trainer. Sounds like they are just scraping the bottom of the barrel now. Wait and see what Riyadh offers and you'll see people run away.

Have friends at both. A FO in Dubai is currently earning more than a Captain in Abu Dhabi by around 12-13k all things included. Uncompetitive seems like the correct term.

Otherwise captains are definitely better off at EK and by a big chunk.

I think that is where the money lies, with live out allowance/provident fund etc. Earning that extra bit is easy. I have seen the pay slip. It's more for a FO in Dubai than one of the returning Abu Dhabi pilots who dropped all seniority.

Yes. The provident fund is the biggest difference in my opinion. I would prefer living in Abu Dhabi now than Dubai. Your costs are higher in Dubai also just to factor that in. Also your friend might be on the SFO salary which would be higher. Then again once Riyadh start recruiting for their A321 fleet next year, not many major airlines in the region with A320 captains and FOs with expats so that might make a difference.

The plus.
Peaceful place to work compared to other carriers in the region.
Inclusivity and Diversity.
Friendly and non fear driven environment.
Sims are straight forward.
Pretty reasonable management guys.
Decisions made on safety basis as PIC are never discouraged.
If you follow the safety recommendations and fly with a bit of common sense, you will never be disturbed.
The minus,
Lower salary package compared to other ME Flag Carriers.
For fos the upgrade time might take a while however seems like its improving.
The age of the Fleet and it's associated problems.
Overall, I am happy I chose EY as a DEC and wouldn't consider a move.

To Rémind all of us that salarié isn't the only aspect to join or not à company....the mood at EY is wonderful....that's very encouraging

Good morning everyone,
Ive been reading a lot about Etihad and I’d like to know if someone can shed some light about the assessment.
what does consist of?
as a Boeing rated FO what do you do in the sim?
what do they ask in the interview?
thank you in advance for any feedback

I got my assessment in the beginning of may and i joined Etihad in august , so after assessment, you just wait 3-4 months to join which is acceptable
About the salary and the package , yes EK is better but the costs of living in dubai is way more higher , EY is giving 160k housing allowance per year
You can find 1 or 2 bedrooms apartments in good locations such as al raha beach or reem island with price of 80-90-100k
If you want bigger apartments or villa , then you should go 150-170-200k
Abu Dhabi is a lot more comfortable and not chaotic like Dubai , especially for family
As a widebody FO , i fly almost 70 hours a month with roughly 10-12 sectors , all layovers at least 24 hours
I make 30-31k , plus housing allowance 13k , it can be saved from housing allowance, depends on the apartment you wish to live
Training is busy but not difficult if you do what you need to do , they want you to finish as quick as possible , so be ready for 5 days a row sim sessions
People here have complaints ofcourse, but i am sure in EK is same , pilots do complain
So overall i am in Etihad for like 6 months and i feel good , no regret at all
If anybody has more specific questions , i may try to help
And No i did not fail EK assessments!!!

Don’t think FO in EK is earning more than CAPT in EY. Not sure. Also EY give live out allowance immediately for rent/ purchase whilst EK don’t unless you buy a place after minimum 6 months. The live out does pay slightly more at EK and if Im not mistaken the provident is only accessible if you spend 7 years at EK. Also the bond at EK is larger.
Otherwise captains are definitely better off at EK and by a big chunk.

I think that accommodations are also a criteria...i've been told that EK are better...can someone clarify us what's done pilots in that subject...

My question : are you flying 350 or 777 ?
How long did you stay in the hotel before moving to your appartement , and How is it managed there ?
is it true that the MEDICAL CHECK is horrible ?
What about retirement plan : yes / no 🤔🤔 ?
Do you have children with you ?

Housing...
DO you get housing allowance in one shot ( entre 160K ) or 160k/12 per month (13.300 )....?
What about education allowance ?
