Housing allowance
I got my assessment in the beginning of may and i joined Etihad in august , so after assessment, you just wait 3-4 months to join which is acceptable
About the salary and the package , yes EK is better but the costs of living in dubai is way more higher , EY is giving 160k housing allowance per year
You can find 1 or 2 bedrooms apartments in good locations such as al raha beach or reem island with price of 80-90-100k
If you want bigger apartments or villa , then you should go 150-170-200k
Abu Dhabi is a lot more comfortable and not chaotic like Dubai , especially for family
As a widebody FO , i fly almost 70 hours a month with roughly 10-12 sectors , all layovers at least 24 hours
I make 30-31k , plus housing allowance 13k , it can be saved from housing allowance, depends on the apartment you wish to live
Training is busy but not difficult if you do what you need to do , they want you to finish as quick as possible , so be ready for 5 days a row sim sessions
People here have complaints ofcourse, but i am sure in EK is same , pilots do complain
So overall i am in Etihad for like 6 months and i feel good , no regret at all
If anybody has more specific questions , i may try to help
And No i did not fail EK assessments!!!

You mean the plans like the last Emiratis pipe dream ones which required about 100 more aircraft and it took even Tony Douglas about a decade to unwind that lunacy and orders ?
I am sure theres no firm information as to why he went to Riyadh Air other than the obvious but I am sure that Tony left Etihad due to the physical damage he suffered to his ribs, through uncontrollable laughing when they told him they were going to grow to need 70 more aircraft .....

With regards to Etihad’s growth you need to consider its done in a planned staging and the growth is there as they coupled this with a new airport that supports this capacity. Together with the Capital’s growth and development. Emirates and Qatar’s airport currently are at maximum capacity hence why EK moving away in the next few years. Otherwise they would also be growing. This has allowed Etihad to capitalise but also a big chunk of those aircraft are 320/321s which allow a more sustainable growth suitable for their loads. I think its not coincidence they have registered record profits since covid and growth every year.
Of course theres always a risk of another world event to bring everything down but what brought them down previously was the poor management ideas and investments in other failing airlines really.

ETIHAD Assestment
Hi everyone, I’ve heard that the recent pilot selection processes at Etihad have been absolutely brutal, with only a very small percentage of candidates passing. Apparently, the general knowledge test has become insanely difficult.
Does anyone know which question bank they’re using now? It seems like they’ve changed everything. Thanks a lot

Etihad assessment
For all wondering about the EY assessment - from what I know - it starts with the sim assessment followed by a written test . Sim assessment can be pretty intense with one failure after the other . But nothing one hasn’t faced during a regular sim assessment.
Then the same day you will have to take a written test with multiple choice questions. ATPL type for Boeing and technical combined with ATPL knowledge questions for Airbus pilots.
Some of my friends who attended found the questions very tricky. If you clear the first day then you go into the second day where there are more assessments followed by interview and group discussion. Whoever clears the second day is called for medical. Medical tests are very thorough .
Hope this helps to get an idea of what to expect 🙂

They tell you everything during and after the assessment. Even if you pass the assessments it doesn’t mean you’re hired until they send you a contract. They also emphasize not to resign your current job until then. HR are clear in their instructions, they need to run your documents with the UAE government for security clearance, this is standard across most countries and airports and can take months of course. I hope that helps.
