Etihad

My first post here! Had a look around and didn't really see any discussions around EY.

So, I have been offered a M2 level (corporate) with EY and am evaluating the same. Just wanted to understand if anyone here has experienced the culture, benefits etc. Open to having a private discussion should anyone wish to discuss this further.

Etihad Assessment 2024

Etihad A320 Assessment --- Does anyone have any idea of how many candidates are getting selected per slot..

Etihad

Whats everyone’s thoughts on Etihad’s growth in the region? I prefer Abu Dhabi to Dubai due to the hustle in Dubai and traffic etc. Package at EY is less than EK currently but with the addition of 80 aircraft in 5 years and competition from the ME carriers (possibly Saudi airlines also). I’ve heard they need 600 pilots every year. It was poorly managed under Hogan but now seems to be making profits year on year and is likely to be the first ME carrier listed on the stock exchange which is a positive in terms of transparency and profits.. possible staff incentives like many offer.

The plus.

Peaceful place to work compared to other carriers in the region.
Inclusivity and Diversity.
Friendly and non fear driven environment.
Sims are straight forward.
Pretty reasonable management guys.
Decisions made on safety basis as PIC are never discouraged.
If you follow the safety recommendations and fly with a bit of common sense, you will never be disturbed.

The minus,

Lower salary package compared to other ME Flag Carriers.
For fos the upgrade time might take a while however seems like its improving.
The age of the Fleet and it's associated problems.

Overall, I am happy I chose EY as a DEC and wouldn't consider a move.

Thanks for the reply. Are there any rumours of possible pension scheme similar to EK at Etihad? I heard there might be. I think that would make the decision to apply for me.

thank you

That have been said even no timing nor numbers have been issued. Might not be the same numbers as nearby airlines though.

Any idea if they have a fast track command on Boeing? I have 6500 hours total with 4000 hours PIC on 737.

I think Etihad is on the right track with all these plans! I prefer Abu Dhabi too; it’s just way more chill than the craziness of Dubai. The news about adding 80 new aircraft is exciting, and I’m all for any airline getting more transparent, especially if it leads to better employee perks. That pilot demand is crazy, though—600 a year is a huge number! I’ve heard mixed things about their management in the past, but it sounds like they’re turning things around and actually making profits now. I’m curious to see how they’ll stack up against Emirates and other Middle Eastern carriers.

Hi guys,

Is it possible to go from Airbus to Boeing at Etihad? Let’s say you get hired as an A320 FO, will you be able to go B787 FO after a year or two?

After a year or 2 is unlikely but later yes.

cruisepower, I recently read an article discussing cross-qualification for both the Boeing 787 and 777. I’m curious—do many pilots at EY currently hold this cross-qualification? Any insights you can share would be much appreciated.

yes there are many with both 787 and 777 and some only one of each. Now there is also A380 and A350 CC.

Usually when you are on A320 you move to A350 or A380. Command upgrade is mainly done on A320 and B787. MPL for cadets also done on B787.

For those joining as A320 DEC, how long can one expect to wait before a transfer to widebody (A350/A380)?

Does EY provide health insurance for you and the family?
How many hours do you fly on long haul fleets per month?

Yes they do. 787 busy. Lots of days off on A350 and A380. A320 very hard work. Expect 60 to 80 hrs average on all fleet.

Max1989 4th December 2024 21:26

Thanks. Do they still provide company accommodation and if yes, where? Could only find “when available” whatever that means. Maybe it’s even better to take the allowance of that gets you a decent space.

I have heard a lot of rumours of assessments & more particularly, the personal interview being very tough and focused deeply into technical and regulatory stuff including Jeppesen etc And then I have also heard of people saying that it was all within reasonable limits, not really sure who to believe in terms of assessing what’s in store should one choose to apply, If anyone with personal experience or in the know with first hand information could shed some light, it would be great. Thank you.

Not sure about this particular article, but the QR article is so full of fiction that it makes one question anything published on that website.

Truetoga 1st January 2025 13:30

I’ve heard Etihad is taking a long time in getting new joiners in from assessment dates. Has anyone joined and how long did it take to get a starting date? Is it just too much recruitment or not enough capacity ?
